It has the feeling of pizza with pineapple on it - which is to say, not actually for grown-ups. Go to Full Review

Like Harry [Dresden], the show has yet to fully master its tricks. There are a few decent jolts, but nothing is truly frightening or even that threatening. And while the show can be amusing, it's never exactly side-splitting. Go to Full Review

Much of the show's appeal stems from its lead actor, Paul Blackthorne, whose leading-man handsomeness is scuffed around the edges, giving Dresden the right mixture of sex appeal and private-eye weariness. Go to Full Review

There are some interesting stories told in this first season but unfortunately they are nothing new to sci-fi fans. Go to Full Review

Dresden's investigations amount to a lot of ho-hum hokum... and his relationships are largely paint-by-number bland. Go to Full Review

As late night entertainment for fantasy fans, it is perfect for those wanting a more adult-orientated version of Harry Potter with a hint of Crime Scene Investigation. Go to Full Review

David W @Sternhammer 01/07/2025 I somehow missed this on its initial release but having just watched it on Plex I was very pleasantly surprised. Blackthorne is excellent in the lead role and the supporting cast (Mann and Cruz especially) all do very well. As you'd expect in a series of this nature, some episodes are better than others but the bar is always set high. The production values do slightly let it down a little by today's standards but nothing that ruins the overall enjoyment. All in all a very good series. Shame there was never a series 2 as I'd like to have seen how things developed. See more Scott W @RT57361544 07/09/2023 The writing on this show was astonishingly bad. Absolutely trashed any semblance of maximum capacity. The entire plot repeatedly hinged on Harry making stupid decisions. DNF. See more Michael S @RT28300614 07/05/2023 Loved this show when it first aired and watching it again right now. See more Cork B @RT87142816 05/15/2023 Probably fine as a concept. The execution is a bit blah and low budget, and there is not much you haven't seen before. Are they ripping off Harry Potter? You bet. It is way better than any modern show though. See more 06/14/2020 I really enjoyed watching the show. Paul Blackthorne portrays the character of Harry Dresden really well. I enjoyed the storyline. This show would have really deserved another season. I didn't read the books, so I can't compare it with the books. See more 06/08/2020 The first 7 episodes were quite enjoyable, then episode 8 arrived. Wheres Bob? Why all the close ups? Why change his home location? Stopped watching after this one, I felt they were trying to hard to be " arty ". See more Read all reviews
