It starts out creepy, then gets repetitive, then ends on a note that doesn’t answer any of the series’ many questions, but does leave an emotional impact. Go to Full Review

Constructed largely out of recreations, the series takes a novel tack. Go to Full Review

At a time when true-crime stories on TV finally seem to be shifting focus on to the victims, here was the old Enfield hoodoo doing the same. It’s just a shame that we had to suffer three hours of prolix to be granted absolution. Go to Full Review

With a sober aesthetic and journalistic appearance, 'The Enfield Poltergeist' strives to be credible. But it does not detail any circumstance or fact that has not been debated. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Enfield Poltergeist is methodical in its storytelling, making the overall narrative feel long and drawn out. As a result, the sense of eeriness in the first and second episodes almost disappears by the final installment. Go to Full Review

Sara B Jun 13 Ok, disclaimer, i'm only half way through. It's an interesting way to present it-having the actors lip sync and use the actual recordings. That being said, this is extremely fake. This took place in the age of film, so if you are investigating something that is so active, why is there no video? Instead you have obviously faked EVP, with one of the most obvious fake voices. Instead of video you have still photos of a little girl jumping off the bed. If it was at all realistic I would be higher star rating. See more Ricardo d 04/22/2024 A parte técnica é digna de prêmio. Fotografia, direção de arte, sonoplastia e figurino são o grande destaque. Também temos boas atuações aqui. Só uma pena que a edição poderia ter encurtado alguns momentos para não ficar tão cansativo. See more C D 12/13/2023 Very drawn out, they could have done the whole show in one hour. See more Jonathan M 12/01/2023 The decision to use original audio for the ENTIRE thing was absolutely the wrong call. Between the terrible audio, thick british accents, and poor volume, it was difficult to understand the parts that were not subtitled (which was a lot). The lip-syncing was just a bad choice; as it constantly brought you out of the moment when it was bad. They should have just used original audio after the reenactments of anything that was relevant. You could go in and out of original audio and reenactment to show that it was verbatim; it would have been much more immersive. Which brings me to my main criticism with the show; it was boring. There was not a shred of actual evidence that could not be explained by the children faking it. And the longer the show went on, the more you realize that this was a troubled little girl who needed therapy but instead received random paranormal investigators giving plenty of attention to her. If the show had pointed this out clearly, and used it as a learning experience, that would have been fine. But the show paints the whole thing as "it could well be the best poltergeist evidence ever recorded". What? No. Anyways, positives for the show? the actors were ok (besides the lipsyncing) and the set being recreated from the original house was good. That's about it. Shining a light on to what happened is a good idea, but the critical analysis of those events was abysmal. See more The S @The_Stranger 11/02/2023 I believe this is genuinely well produced and assembled but it fails massively at being entertaining. The kind of academic approach to presenting the story really dissects the scary part out of the whole thing. It's interrupted so often it's maddening with the interviews and the constant input. Yes, that stuff is valuable on some level but you're left with a story that doesn't flow well with these segments od re-enactments that aren't always the most interesting. Amazon produced a series based on this case..where they simply had actors playing roles with the narrative based on the actual case files…much, MUCH more entertaining, scarier, more enjoyable. I know that since it's based on an allegedly true story that it's tempting to lay the story out like a research paper but it goes from entertaining to kind of underwhelming to boring rather quickly. It was released right before Halloween and I'm sure that was part of the strategy but c'mon guys…we wanted something that is scary and would get us into the horror holiday spirit and we ended up getting someone's critical dissertation about an event that was most likely a hoax. Check out the Amazon series based on Enfield…way more entertaining and a much easier watch. Even some of the YouTube documentaries on this event are shorter and feel more concise and easier to follow than this min-series. See more Valerii Ege D 10/30/2023 The idea of lip-syncing the tapes is brilliant. The technique is top-notch. This docu showed me that some people really want to believe and hold on to something, even though it is obviously fake. Good show for buffs. See more Read all reviews
