What to Know

Critics Consensus

Grounded by layered performances and a foreboding pace, The Eternaut is a post-apocalyptic adventure that derives its thrills from character as much as it does set pieces.

Chilling for any viewer, these scenes have a special resonance in Argentina, where the story originated as a comic book serial almost 70 years ago. Go to Full Review

Yet despite adhering to well-known formulas, The Eternaut isn’t just another derivative end-of-the-world yarn, but an adaptation of the graphic novel series considered to be a sort of urtext for the genre. Go to Full Review

[Stagnaro] has taken a story about a small band of people with a few simple personality quirks each and added layer upon layer of melodramatic detail and mystery. Go to Full Review

It’s possible to watch The Eternaut as a compelling show about the annihilating consequences of an alien invasion. However, like the best science fiction, the story it tells is more squarely about us than ‘them’. Go to Full Review

Hotma Fani H @RT55323325 3 days ago The Eternaut wastes very little time making ordinary life terrifying. Its frozen Buenos Aires, eerie silence, and constant sense of isolation create an atmosphere that does more work than most horror shows manage in an entire season. The strongest part is the mystery. The series gives you just enough information to keep you guessing without turning every episode into an exposition dump. Ricardo Darín leads a cast that makes the survival drama feel grounded, even when the story gets increasingly bizarre. My problem is that the pacing occasionally loses its grip. Some character decisions feel frustratingly convenient, and the middle stretch can feel like the show is deliberately walking in circles because it knows the premise is strong enough to keep us watching. Still, the atmosphere is exceptional, the production looks great, and the story has enough ambition to make the slower moments forgivable. See more diogo13 T @Tua_mera Jul 17, 2026 Uma adaptação corajosa que capta perfeitamente a atmosfera melancólica e o suspense da icónica banda desenhada. Embora o ritmo por vezes vacile, a realização imersiva, o design de produção e a presença magnética de Ricardo Darín garantem uma das melhores e mais maduras propostas de ficção científica do ano. See more Scott M @RT50579171 Jul 13, 2026 Awful, awful, awful. What on earth are all of the other reviewers watching? The acting is poor, the storyline is badly developed and some of the plot is just ridiculous. The best bit was the final 20 minutes of the last episode, but you're then left with little explanation of what's happening. I would guess that the ratings are more about the love of the original graphic novel, rather than this clunky adaption. See more Gareth V @geewah Feb 26, 2026 This a thoughtful, atmospheric sci-fi survival drama that prioritizes mood and character over action. There are some pacing isssues which are frustrating but overall this is building towards something bigger. See more Chris T @RT85906111 Feb 25, 2026 Loved it. Good storyline, excellent characters and VERY good actors. Watch it! See more Read all reviews
