Critic Reviews for The Fall Season 2

All Critics (15) | Top Critics (9)

The Fall's most remarkable achievement will be if it turns out to be the first show of many to present a new normal for women on television.

Jan 26, 2015 | Full Review…

The second season (despite its tendency to lean into the show's pulpier sensibilities) keeps the torch burning by drawing Gibson and Spector directly into each other's orbits.

Apr 3, 2019 | Full Review…

As it did in the first season, Anderson's self-possessed hauteur serves the series exceedingly well.

Small quibbles for an otherwise compelling drama.

Apr 3, 2019 | Full Review…

Despite its flaws, this climax unfolded in riveting fashion.

A chilling return.

That she can make you feel protective towards her one minute and want to shake her the next is testament to Anderson's talent.

Aug 10, 2017 | Full Review…

The Fall treats its female characters as more than caricatures... They're not just one-note plot devices but real, full-bodied characters that add something to this show.

Apr 13, 2015 | Rating: 9/10 | Full Review…

The Fall more than sticks its landing here as it eloquently finishes what it has to say with an absolutely masterful, unexpected ending that is all sorts of brilliant and the perfect piece of commentary on consequences.

Apr 3, 2019 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Season 2 is great TV too - it's just not quite as great as Season 1.

Apr 3, 2019 | Full Review…

Writer/director Allan Cubitt seems to have found the ideal pace for his narrative, which moves with a kind of spectral stateliness.

Audience Reviews for The Fall: Season 2

  • Sep 26, 2019
Slow, story and direction was poor
  • Sep 08, 2019
went from one of the best crime shows in season 1, to nonsensical drivel in season 2. The worst, and insulting to those who put time in to watch it
  • Sep 27, 2017
Sustained interest with every episode, continued well-written characters, new twists...season 2 takes a cue from season 1 and does it just as well.
  • Nov 30, 2016
Season 2 was when Stella's impervious self-righteousness really started to grate on me. It becomes intolerable in Season 3.
  • Nov 12, 2015
Liked the story. Wished Gillian Anderson wasn't so boring - seemed so one-dimensional compared to the rest of the cast, who were great. And really, did we need all that cleavage? Is that how top female cops dress? A bit much and no cred.

fast, dark and full of promise. Great season.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. (More complete review tbd)

Season one was good but season 2 was a real load of crap. The police almost know who the killer is from the start of the season. And no more killings. WTF??? The guy has gone from superintelligent in season 1 to make every misstake in the book in season 2. He is so idiotic that it is ridicolous. Leaving millions of evidence and people who can point him out. This series should have ended with season 1. Was a perfect ending. That the police know who the murderer is most of the season makes it really boring to follow. One just wants it to be over. This series is for coplovers. I want to see alot of murders and a unbeatable, intelligent killer. This was a crap job by the author, this shit, he must have been rushed with in a week. Usually british detective series can be really good compared to the american crap but this season 2 feels just like american lowstandard crap. And the ending...OMG... is it so hard to think outside the box and not make it a cliche???

Although there are many fantastic shows in this new Golden Age of television....sparked by the emergence of cable TV, the best show in recent years is and has been The Fall....it's riveting, intelligent, exciting and engaging. All its characters are fascinating in one way or another, but the cat and mouse between Stella Gibson and Paul Spector is breathtaking. Gibson is an excellent detective with exactly the traits we'd want in a police officer if he or she was assigned to investigate I crime perpetrated against us. SPOILER ALERT - STOP READING IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN SEASON ONE... My favorite scene from season one is at the end of episode five where Spector tells Gibson that he's going to stop and that she has no clue about who he is. We then see Spector's face turn to ashes as Gibson tells him she knows his first name, where he went to school and that he has a small daughter who will be emotionally destroyed once she finds out her father tortures and murders women....It's amazing how the show has packed so much into only 11 episodes. Rent and watch it tonight....you won't be sorry you made the choice.

Investigation error after error. And to think this series had a police advisor. I had high hopes but was let down. The crowning glory being Stella Bella putting her dabs all over the boot of the Volvo, THEN putting some gloves on. A big Derrrrr.... for you mate.
