What to Know

Critics Consensus

Although The Flash fails to replicate a low budget version of Tim Burton's Batman, the creators manage to construct a superhero series that is uniquely campy and surprisingly compelling.

The special effects in The Flash are neat, and the standard comic-book ploy of a superhuman hero who saves the populace from monumentally nasty villains works effectively. Like The Incredible Hulk this one could prove attractive to youngsters. Go to Full Review

C+
The Flash parts of this show are fun... But so far, the villains are dumb, run-of-the-mill punks and hoods instead of colorful old Flash foes like Captain Cold and Gorilla Grodd. Go to Full Review

The 90-minute pilot is particularly good, and while subsequent episodes were more hit-and-miss, this nevertheless deserved to last more than 22 episodes. Go to Full Review

The early '90s fashions are pretty painful to look at, and the TV budget is what it is, but nonetheless, the show made a concerted effort to expand the boundaries of what was achievable with the superhero genre during that era, Go to Full Review

Sure, The Flash may have been too campy for most, but watch a brainwashed Flash and the Trickster throwing sticks of dynamite at the Central City police and tell me you aren't entertained. Go to Full Review

Enrique R. @EnriqueRamosLovesMovies Feb 28 A guilty pleasure entertaining TV series from the 90s cheesy era! John Wesley Snipp does awesome as The Flash, I really enjoyed the 90-minute 1st episode for him. Then, it got boring, with no good story. The last episode was awesome! I love Mark Hamill as The Trickster, he was hilarious. But, overall, I give The Flash a C+ or a 7.1/10. See more Peter K @Vacadoug 06/29/2024 What's not to like here? Amazing special effects, surprising cameo appearances and great story-line with twists and turns --super entertaining! See more julian p @RT20469206 04/13/2023 There is literally nothing to hate or dislike about this show because its literally perfect. Action, action is perfect because unlike the CW Flash show The 90s Flash actually cared about quality. Acting, is perfect no explanation needed because the CW show has S6, S7. CGI/VFX, for the time the CGI/VFX are both amazing. Villain(s) I found all the villains very interesting. Writing, it perfect x16 no explanation needed because unlike the CW show this is not boring. Story/Plot are both absolutely perfect similar to the CW show but I think that this one's better because for the 90s they really pulled it off. Casting is perfect x100 no explanation needed. Characters, no explanation needed they are all perfect. Mystery, I found the mystery good because I was always left to wonder what happens next. Ending I think that the ending is perfect and more than likely better than the CW Flash's show ending. See more steve d @RT35616104 07/26/2020 Still the best version of The Flash ever. John Wesley Shipp is perfect for his role and the supporting staff are great. See more 12/15/2018 A cheesy but enjoyably fun TV show. See more Read all reviews
