Critic Reviews for The Flight Attendant Miniseries
All Critics (55) | Top Critics (25) | Fresh (54) | Rotten (1)
Writer/producer Yockey (adapting Chris Bohjalian's 2018 book) gives Cassie enough history to make her feel real, even when she's living through goofy, surreal circumstances. Plus, Cuoco nails every beat of the genre-shifting script.
The Flight Attendant is funny and dark and surprising, and it successfully walks the knife edge of making a central character both a rootable protagonist and kind of a garbage person some of the time.
Like the best of all such genre-melding stories, it's a lot more complicated ... thanks in no small part to a career-best performance from Kaley Cuoco.
It's a lot of fun, if you're willing to go along for a ride that doesn't always track but almost always entertains. It's a thriller, and it's a drama, but it's also almost a comedy, with a brisk pace and a playful tone.
Cassie moves through the world like a flesh-and-blood cartoon, careening from drunkenness to lucidity. Cuoco gives this physical recklessness some meaning, thereby humanizing a trope.
At times "The Flight Attendant" is a little too zippy and visually self-indulgent for its own good, but it's a wickedly funny black comedy with some poignant domestic drama, and Cuoco is a marvel to watch every second she's onscreen.
The Flight Attendant... unravels a mystery through its protagonist's internalizations and guilty conscience, all the while being darkly clever, and highly entertaining.
The Flight Attendant is darkly funny, bitingly smart, and wonderfully acted.
If Alfred Hitchcock had created a spin-off series for Samantha from Sex and the City it might have been this.
The major positive was that the characters grew throughout this experience, but the biggest surprise is that Miranda is still contacting Cassie.
The Flight Attendant is twisty, emotional, shocking, and wildly entertaining, and it's already one of those shows I will be hounding people to watch for the foreseeable future.
Though The Flight Attendant's fast-paced story of murder, alcoholism, and sheer panic is nightmarish, the eight-episode series feels soaring and sparkly and fun when you're watching solo in sweatpants.
Audience Reviews for The Flight Attendant: Miniseries

3d agoI loved watching this! It is very eventful, fast-paced, with lots of twists and turns. No way you'll be bored with it. Plus, I love how it doesn't take itself too seriously and even though there is some drama and suffering involved it is still mostly a comedy and fun to watch.

4d agoI watched this because Kaley Cuoco was in it and love her, but was surprised I loved everything about it even more. The intro is so amazing, I love the music and visual aspects of it. I love how its dark. The series is so intense. Keeps you on the edge of your seat with suspense and what might happen next! I couldn't wait for the next episode. If you love dark suspenseful shows I absolutely recommend this one! I cannot wait for season 2! The Flight Attendant will keep you glued to your couch waiting for the next flight to arrive! What are you waiting for? Go watch this now and have a safe flight!

5d agoThe plot tied up a little too neatly, but it was a decent binge watch.

Jan 16, 2021It starts really nice (i thought it would depict something fresh and new) but as other viewers said, it lasted me about 3-4 episodes... after that it became dull and uninteresting. It goes round and round not reaching anywhere.
-
Jan 14, 2021I lasted about three and a half episodes. The acting is good in 'The Flight Attendant', and the characters somewhat interesting. The story is unbelievable, but that's fine. It just doesn't present a predictable story in a new way, and honestly I was surprisingly bored. Also, when the female cop says she had to get to the top the hard way because she's female and black, you know the writers are just ignorant. Big companies and high government positions absolutely love hardworking women who make it to the top, and almost never, ever discriminate - results drive these kind of top positions, and the false narrative that misogyny or racism permeates them is just such a tired, blatant lie...a bit off topic, but a good example of how the show lacks originality.
-
Jan 14, 2021A really intriguing show. Watching the main character falling deeper down the well, is uncomfortable and irritating, and makes it hard to watch at times, but the show, the plot and acting outside of that keeps pulling you in and wanting more.
-
Jan 14, 2021This is really not about the flight attendant, the main character just happens to be a flight attendant and it was purely entertainment.
-
Jan 12, 2021It was good in the beginning but became dull and once again a show with guys who are either overly feminine or overly masculine and dumb... Thought Kaley did a okay job acting in some dramatic scenes, but sometimes it's like she's not comfortable in front of a camera. Could have been something amazing but won't be tuning in next year, if there is a next year for the show.
-
Jan 11, 2021I usually shy away from the Who Dun It? genre, but this one sucked me in. Strong performances from Cuco, and more so Perez really sold it. The characters mostly felt genuine and each episode went down smooth.
