Six old friends head for a relaxing weekend away only to learn that one couple in the group is about to split up. The three couples, Kate and Jack, Nick and Anne, and Danny and Claude, are completely upended by the news. Over the course of a year, we follow the friends on four vacations, and watch how this shake-up affects everyone’s dynamic -- sending old issues and new bubbling to the surface.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Welcoming as a lakeside vista and occasionally just as placid, The Four Seasons isn't as breezily funny as creator Tina Fey's best work but often just as witty and wise.

Mostly a gentle comedy that sometimes bares teeth. But it definitely has that Fey vibe, which means it’s a pleasure just to spend time in that world. Go to Full Review

After you've met cute, overcome obstacles and fallen in love, what's next, and what's in store for the next 25 years? "The Four Seasons" may not have all the answers, but at least it asks some of the right questions. Go to Full Review

The Four Seasons paddles in without ever diving truly, madly, deeply into the troubles bedevilling these charm-free chumps. Go to Full Review

The writing is witty and smart, the banter and misunderstandings between the friends feel very real and lived, although it does stumble at one point when the balancing of comedy with a tragic moment feels a bit off. Go to Full Review

All I could see watching this take on The Four Seasons was evidence of joke opportunities producers let go by. Go to Full Review

Its gentleness is its strength. Here, friends don’t fight over politics and can afford nice holidays four times a year. A “hymn to ordinariness” it might be, but ordinariness is comforting -- exotic even -- in these relentlessly extraordinary times. Go to Full Review

Noah K. @noah-1 18m Absolutely full of life See more Suz B @RT17527865 3d Jokes felt forced and characters did not connect. No flow to the season. None of the characters had a natural chemistry. Felt like they all were doing a one act play. See more Fabrizio L. @RT44250027 Jun 8 Season 1 is great! And season 2 AMAZING! See more Johanna W @RT81768964 Jun 7 As bad as anything I’ve ever watched. I prefer shows with at least one likable character. The plot, the character development, every bit of it was terrible. And not in a "so bad, it’s good" way. I am angry this nonsense even exists. The couples are unhappy and annoying to watch. The random new girlfriend lacks any self awareness and it is totally unbelievable that she is just accepted into the friend group. The whole vibe is "entitled elitist narcissists being jerks to each other and pretending they are best friends." It feels fake and hollow and I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes at every new plot twist. I’m really surprised this stellar cast read the script and was like, "I bet people won’t hate this." Oh, people of different generations have to interact! That’s funny, right? Right? Oh, and let’s have large sections of the dialogue just be about deciding which fancy trip we should go on next. I mean, how relatable! See more Kyle R @RT80259205 Jun 5 Starts strong but falls off hard. I blame the writing. Great cast though. See more Amanda D @RT16974000 Jun 3 I loved it! It was just as entertaining and funny as the first season. I love they brought Steve carell back for a throwback memory. I hold more to conservative values so certain things that don't agree with. But other than that it's a great show. Very entertaining for adults. See more Read all reviews
