What to Know

Critics Consensus

Slick as a well-pressed suit and given watchable wattage by its cast, Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen doesn't seamlessly expand upon the original movie but has enough verve to be fun on its own terms.

It is difficult to think of another director who’s evolved less than Ritchie. Honestly, how does he do it? Go to Full Review
Hugo Rifkind The Times (UK) Mar 11, 2024
Ritchie is mockable for the same reason that he is imitable, which is that he birthed a genre. The trouble with The Gentlemen, though, is that it feels less like it’s been made by an imitator than it has been by a bot. Go to Full Review
Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Mar 10, 2024
The eight-episode format does not suit Ritchie. The pacing lags behind the manic kineticism of his features while it gives him even more space to indulge in his unnecessarily complicated plots. Go to Full Review

The humour does not tamper the bombastic action sequences. They are stylish and thrilling, even when there are absurd elements to it. Go to Full Review

The Gentlemen is a fascinating product thanks to its premise and setting but it could have wrapped up its plot a lot more nicely than with a disappointing last episode that attempts to tie all loose ends and connect all the threads and characters. Go to Full Review
Maria Lattila Film Stories Apr 12, 2024
There’s absolutely nothing going on underneath the surface of The Gentlemen, but it’s indulgent fun. It also shows Ritchie at his most relaxed, something that has been missing from his later work. Go to Full Review

Luke T @LightSyson 15 hrs ago Lots of fun. Not particularly deep , but very entertaining. See more Doug B @DB108 1 day ago Guy Ritchie kills it again with a well-paced, superbly acted, and creatively shot modern masterpiece. See more Kyra C @RT99014649 2 days ago I love the synergy between Eddie and Susie. Each of the characters is different and written to almost perfection. I look forward to season 2. I hope unlike “Breaking Bad” that had a predictable and icky ending this show won’t disappoint. See more Me L @rainydayinnyc 2 days ago Season 2 was a tad slow to start but once it got going it was great with a heck of a season finale!! See more DC C @Motocap 2 days ago Very entertaining. Great cast! I enjoyed watching the scenes with Kaya Scodelario and Vinnie Jones most of all. See more Sashi W @sashiw 2 days ago The show was highly entertaining. I was not expecting it to be funny and engaging and action oriented. Highly recommend. The cast is amazing. See more Read all reviews
