The House of Flowers (La casa de las flores): Season 1 Photos

Tv Season Info

The series follows the lives of an upper-class Mexican family that owns La Casa de las Flores, a famous and successful flower shop. At the beginning of Season 1, while the family is celebrating Ernesto de la Mora's (Arturo Ríos) birthday, his mistress Roberta (Claudette Maillé) commits suicide leaving behind a letter addressed to his wife Virginia (Verónica Castro) in which she reveals some family secrets. This sets off a chain of events that sees Ernesto arrested for fraud, their son Julián (Darío Yazbek Bernal) coming out as bisexual, and the customers turning away from the shop because of all the scandals. As the season progresses and the family tries to regain their social status, even more secrets come to life, making all their efforts seem pointless.

The episodes of around 30 minutes pass quickly by combining new plots, punches of dark humor and crazy situations. [Full Review in Spanish]

La Casa de Las Flores bills itself as a telenovela with a modern twist, and it mostly follows through on that promise.

The de la Moras might be the only family messier than HBO's media mogul Roys in Succession.

Couple these modern updates with the addictive quality of a classic soap, and it makes for a fun, not-so-guilty pleasure.

Best intro ever ,great story . It's like a modern telenovela.

I simply love this modern dramedy series. It has everything that I expected, if not more. And yes, it has some LGBTQ+ characters, which is always a plus for me. Paulina is one of my favourite characters. She is played by Cecilia Suárez, who deserves praise of many for this role. At first, I wasn't used to Paulina's talking, then I couldn't imagine this show without it. The scene at Roberta's funeral is one of my favourite. As I said, I love a good LGBTQ+ representation, so another favourite character was María José. She is Paulina's ex husband, not accepted by the family. As I learn more about this character, which is played by Paco León, I am more and more drawn to her. All in all, every character has its charm. In my opinion,if you've an open mind; La Casa de las Flores is definitely worth your time.

House of flowers reminded me of the golden day of desperate housewives.

Pretty good. Dark and funny. Castro and Cecilia Suarez are especially quirky and engaging. At least one main role felt miscast like, the character could have been interesting with a different actress more adept at subtle eccentricity or at reacting to eccentricity. Not a huge negative but it made for some boring spots.

Personajes divertidos, en especial el de Suárez y Castro. Trama entretenida y humor sutil.

Me encantó la primera temporada de este programa. Empieza un poquito despacio pero al fin de cuentas han desarrollado buenos personajes y un sinopsis interesante.

Exceptional and terrific. It's like Mexican telenovela directed and produced by Pedro Almodovar.
