Leave all critical thinking at the door and you’ll have a whale of a time with this brazen and brash eight-parter about a clique of red state women who, despite their buttoned-up appearances, are arguably just as dastardly as their rich husbands. The story opens up with a violent shooting and from there the story gets unpacked orderly. THW is about a string of scandalous games of people manipulating the most basic instinctual vulnerabilities of each other and the deadly consequences. Remarkable amount of work by the cast dealing with sudden drastic shifts in reactions of characters. Excellent visuals and perfectly moody music. It's a thought-provoking tale of power, betrayal and desire that would keep many viewers mesmerized.
