Season 1
The Irregulars
It taps into some fairly regular plot points, but when it dares to defy expectations and focus on its charming young cast, The Irregulars hints at something truly special lingering beneath the surface.

Critic Reviews for The Irregulars Season 1

There are a sprinkling of more casual sequences that cut through the darkness. An encroaching threat does a lot to crowd those out by season's end.
There's enough talent here to suggest that it could develop into something more interesting in the future, but the real mystery here is how so many interesting individual elements can struggle to form an entertaining whole piece.
"The Irregulars" is fairly regular. Which isn't to say it's bad, just expected.
If you're excited at the prospect of a Holmes-adjacent supernatural battle between the forces of evil and an underdog group of teens, then The Irregulars is a diverting choice.
The Irregulars offers up a good story with some expertly executed horror-inspired visuals, but fails to connect the magic with the Sherlockian mystery.
Unlike Sherlock, for example, [The Irregulars] seldom strays into comedy. This means, unfortunately, that when its dialogue makes you shriek with laughter, it isn't intentional.
An appealing cast, a light horror-mystery vibe, period visuals, and a fresh spin on a much-explored literary figure keeps this show entertaining despite its hoary case-of-the-week setup.
The world of Sherlock Holmes is given a supernatural spin in new Netflix series The Irregulars -- and it's the most fun I've had watching a young adult series in ages.
A 'monster of the week' format with likable underdog characters. The episodes could benefit from being shorter as the extra plot padding slows down the momentum.
Did I mention that there's magic? The Irregulars isn't content to simply shift the perspective away from Holmes: Here, the mysteries are supernatural.
In theory, a show about street tuffs solving mysteries while Holmes takes the credit is a fresh take. But it feels like The Irregulars was designed by the Netflix algorithm to be the "If you like..." suggestion.
Fundamentally, this is all terrific fun. The ensemble cast blend together like an experienced theatre troupe, exchanging knowing lines and looks that hint at genuine history and affection, or not in some cases.

6h agoCan't wait for season 2

11h agoA mess. Romance in the most typical way, "horror" and mystery like the 2000s. You can clearly see it's filmed in a movie set and it bugs me so much they didn't produce it better. Characters feel like they're reading off a script and not from an actor/actress heart because of the dull and predictable writing. If you're looking for a new Sherlock Holmes series to watch don't even bother since he's not present most of the time. Another thing is how absurd some of the plot is, "oh what a coincidence this thing happened". Don't waste your time.

Apr 12, 2021Not for me. Poor writing. Unrealistic characters. Not historically realistic. Yeah it's fiction but it's like it's geared to teens or something..

2d agoEu achei incrível o roteiro e como a história se desenvolve, ansiosa pela 2° temporada....

2d agoInstead of repeating the same old plot lines, this is an interesting take on the Baker Street Irregulars from the old Sherlock Holmes stories. Rather than chasing down clues for Holmes and Watson, these Irregulars are involved in identifying supernatural mysteries. The premise is sound and the multicultural casting brings an interesting style to the show.
-
3d agoSlow start, filled with well known elements of stories that have been told more than a hundred times. Over time, the kids grow on you and the overall storyarc becomes more important and makes the show more interesting.
-
3d agoTerrible movie after a great book series. Sherlock Holmes is mainly for adults adult teenagers that can understand and resonate with the characters, events and connections. This movie just flattens out the whole story, concept and thrill. Sorry to say, yet-another-teenager-movie.

3d agoIt was like someone put modern people in Victorian clothes and called it a day.
-
3d agointeresting take on sherlock holmes story
-
3d agoI'm not sure what show the people giving this a poor review were watching, but it certainly was not the Irregulars. The show is paced quite well, the acting is superb, and the premise is quite unique for a series set in the world of Sherlock Holmes. Don't listen to the people who are downvoting this. Watch it for yourself. You won't regret it.
