Season 1
The Irregulars
It taps into some fairly regular plot points, but when it dares to defy expectations and focus on its charming young cast, The Irregulars hints at something truly special lingering beneath the surface.

6d ago"The Irregulars" never slows down enough for me to get interested. This show has no soul or center to ground the story and the sound track takes you right out of the victorian era setting. If you want a good and gritty victorian style drama series to watch, try "Carnival Row" on Prime.

6d agoI like that Sherlock is not the main character. It shows you different perspectives different adventures. It's new and fresh it's a shame that we won't see a second season.

Sep 30, 2022I thought it would be a depiction of the books but I was WRONG. Several points, clearly associations like this were incredibly common in Victorian England. Dr Watson? Uh huh, that was realistic and accurate. Their language is like a group of kids out of 2021. The stories, characters and ideas here do not belong in Victorian England , they belong in in Buffy the vampire slayer, except there were no good stories, no good acting, and no good ideas.

Aug 20, 2022The music didn't fit the theme at all & the characters were unlikable

Jul 17, 2022It was decent and I didn't hate it, but the story isn't great

Jun 29, 2022I really like period content, particularly Edwardian, Elizabethan, and Victorian (no, not a steampunk type, just grew up on Poe, HGWells, Jules Verne, Machen, Bierce, and Lovecraft). So, this being right in there and a Sherlock Holmes spinoff is an easy win. The acting was great, the special effects decent, the settings had a great atmosphere. My only complaint was the heavy teen drama slant. Regardless, that didn't kill it. It was still very enjoyable.

Mar 15, 2022It was ok series. Good production values, clothes look worn and even had holes in it which is pretty nice touch. Doesn't distract you from immersing you in their reality unlike Wheel of Time where everyone is wearing brand new clothes like right off a Walmart rack without a speck of dirt on it and they spent like 10 million an episode on that series but they can't make worn clothes to make it look more real. The only thing is the female Asian lead can read and run a gang of street urchins. This coming from an age where men are the only ones with rights and the rich are the only ones that can read. But if you can get pass that and all the other stretches of realism, it's not bad a show.

Feb 19, 2022[Raspberry] 👅 wife and i couldnt make it thru an entire ep, before we shut it down. Not really surprised they can take a hot property like Holmes, and choose to focus on one of the *least interesting* aspects of the stories - theres litterally no *character or personality* in the name, in the original material. It's a nothing more than a plot device ACD threw boring research, and stakeouts into, to keep the momentum moving. Clearly this series was just another "☒ check the right boxes" exercise, to deliver on an an under-developed "30second pitch" of a concept, and join the on-going lemming parade of series with similar casts - 🙄 - rather than starting from interesting stories and devloping engaging well-defined characters. Clearly theres a raft of fans for Holmes & Watson, not another formulaic teen gang outing. They'd have had more luck doing yet another meh 😐 remix on the original pair, over this stuff.

Jan 03, 2022The Irregulars is the story of poor street children in Victorian England who solve bizarre crimes. It has some of modern conventions (characters who are black or Asian, including British royalty) but it is common enough now that it doesn't stand out any more (Bridgerton, Hamilton, etc). The plots can be a little on the thin side, but you don't figure out how it is going to end within the first 15 minutes. Episodes have a story line that begins and ends in each episode, and it is the characters relationships that carry over through the series. One can't worry too much about the accents or the historical accuracy of things in the episodes; this is a fantasy, not a documentary. Kept my attention through the entire season and would probably enjoy more.

Dec 30, 2021Yet another Sherlock Holmes adjacent story. I found it entertaining. An interesting story with characters with which I eventually became engaged. If another season comes out I'll watch it.
