It was ok series. Good production values, clothes look worn and even had holes in it which is pretty nice touch. Doesn't distract you from immersing you in their reality unlike Wheel of Time where everyone is wearing brand new clothes like right off a Walmart rack without a speck of dirt on it and they spent like 10 million an episode on that series but they can't make worn clothes to make it look more real. The only thing is the female Asian lead can read and run a gang of street urchins. This coming from an age where men are the only ones with rights and the rich are the only ones that can read. But if you can get pass that and all the other stretches of realism, it's not bad a show.

[Raspberry] 👅 wife and i couldnt make it thru an entire ep, before we shut it down. Not really surprised they can take a hot property like Holmes, and choose to focus on one of the *least interesting* aspects of the stories - theres litterally no *character or personality* in the name, in the original material. It's a nothing more than a plot device ACD threw boring research, and stakeouts into, to keep the momentum moving. Clearly this series was just another "☒ check the right boxes" exercise, to deliver on an an under-developed "30second pitch" of a concept, and join the on-going lemming parade of series with similar casts - 🙄 - rather than starting from interesting stories and devloping engaging well-defined characters. Clearly theres a raft of fans for Holmes & Watson, not another formulaic teen gang outing. They'd have had more luck doing yet another meh 😐 remix on the original pair, over this stuff.

The Irregulars is the story of poor street children in Victorian England who solve bizarre crimes. It has some of modern conventions (characters who are black or Asian, including British royalty) but it is common enough now that it doesn't stand out any more (Bridgerton, Hamilton, etc). The plots can be a little on the thin side, but you don't figure out how it is going to end within the first 15 minutes. Episodes have a story line that begins and ends in each episode, and it is the characters relationships that carry over through the series. One can't worry too much about the accents or the historical accuracy of things in the episodes; this is a fantasy, not a documentary. Kept my attention through the entire season and would probably enjoy more.

Yet another Sherlock Holmes adjacent story. I found it entertaining. An interesting story with characters with which I eventually became engaged. If another season comes out I'll watch it.

This sounded so interesting but the characters lacked so much, especially Watson. Had so much more potential.

They tried to put on a show with detective mysteries, horror, fiction, romance and investigation, but ended up not doing any of these in a competent way. The plot is not good, it lacks better character development, the acting could be better, the British English of the Victorian era was clearly done by someone who has no idea what that is, as it's more of an attempt at comic relief, since the actors had no preparation for this type of oratory and each one does it their own way, as if it were more satire than anything else. The only positive point was the diversity of actors cast in this cast, following the line of what they did in Bridgerton, but it stops there. It is a heavy and tiring series to watch that drags on with each episode, a fight to watch until the end and it is worth mentioning that for fans of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, this representation is ridiculous, where the greatest detective of all times is more like a hippie from the 90s and cannot solve apparently simple cases, as five teenagers manage without ever having contact with the world of investigation.

The acting is quite poor across the board. The mess of a story is dictated out to you in the plainest way, leaving no intrigue or mystery. The dialog is odd, the transitions are awful, and the wild assumptions the characters ex-machina "figure out" when all the "clues" make absolutely no sense. The music is somehow even worse than the show. If there wasn't so much gore I'd assume it was made for very young children.

Having seen the trailer , I was looking forward to the series but up to episode 4 while the plot might have an excellent idea for the supernatural and mystery the general mistakes of what was worn or what people would have populated London at the time . Victorian London was not the cosmopolitan city it is today. Language used does not fit the time. Sure people cursed but they didn't say ‘what the actual F' . A promising idea ruined by too many errors .
