What to Know

Critics Consensus

It taps into some fairly regular plot points, but when it dares to defy expectations and focus on its charming young cast, The Irregulars hints at something truly special lingering beneath the surface.

If you're excited at the prospect of a Holmes-adjacent supernatural battle between the forces of evil and an underdog group of teens, then The Irregulars is a diverting choice. Go to Full Review

There are a sprinkling of more casual sequences that cut through the darkness. An encroaching threat does a lot to crowd those out by season's end. Go to Full Review

Entrenching Doyle's popular characters deep within the occult makes for an intriguing concept, but this series doesn't seem to know what to do with it beyond a superficial, generic setup. Go to Full Review

If you're a fan of broken children finding home in each other then you'll love this ragtag group of gritty good kids who could easily carry a few more seasons at least. Go to Full Review

With its over-reaching plot with startling scenes of horror, it's almost like part of this storyline has been heavily influenced by Stranger Things but there is nothing fresh about this derivative story Go to Full Review

Van G 08/10/2024 Costumes and story not matching environment setting. Seemed like another teenage drama See more Free S 07/31/2024 It was so terrible, I think you gave me cancer! (c) Calculon See more Mike W 07/06/2024 Thank God it was only one season, the narrative was incoherent and inconsistent, the characters were all over the place emotionally and narratively, too many BAD plot devices to move the story along somehow, bad writing and even worse scripting. It’s like a roomful of daddy issue teens wrote this. See more Sarah 05/13/2024 It's alright. The main cast of characters were more likeable than I was expecting. There were times where some of the characters would seriously get on my nerves (unintentionally?), but overall I enjoyed watching them. I also enjoyed seeing a different take on Sherlock. Seeing him now as a struggling addict but with hints of his former greatness. It was a fresh take that I really liked. Each episode's supernatural mysteries were entertaining on their own and the overarching plot was enough to keep me engaged. I never felt bored or uninterested so that's a plus! While I did like the show, ultimately nothing about really blew me away. Leading to my final feelings about the show just being "yeah it was okay". It was entertaining, but nothing about it really spoke to me or wowed me. Overall, I wouldn't class this show as a "must see" but if you've got some time on your hands and like supernatural mysteries, it's worth the watch. See more Nikita N 02/15/2024 I know it's supernatural, but the regular actions should be possible and (I wish) at least believable. I mean, Bea untying Jessica with her one hand, while the other keeps the blade at the throat of the Tooth Fairy, others magically realising where to find the remains of the group (no cellphones then!), a devoted maid telling secrets to a person she just met who is supposed to be a "grunt, hired for the weekend". Happy coincidences, people behaving out of character simply for plot development, (possibly bipolar? Lol) Billy changing his attitude for Leo to the opposite once or twice per episode, correct theories made up from the thin air with nothing to support it. A wealthy civil cervant, member of the Inner Circle of the secret organisation inviting a bunch of kids from the street to "observe", not even use any abilities, without explaining basically anything about this cult to them and then fully trusting them with confidential information from British higher-ups. The show is quite captivating, but written extremely poorly. I am not any good as a film/show critic (I used to gobble up everything from Marvel up until very recently) but the fact that even I was able to notice this means it's THAT BAD See more Alex R 08/18/2023 Interesting premise poorly and hastily executed with little care to sense and logic. Some good ideas here and there , but very superficial. Teen dialogues are out of place for a Victorian era . Words like " clone" etc certainly weren't used or known by commoners. Part Buffy/X-Files part Misfits/Stranger Things. Why tarnish Sherlock Holmes IP with this subpar product, coz yea it feels like a product more than a story show runners wanted to tell.
