A compelling and comprehensive portrait of one of basketball's great teams, The Last Dance's blend of archival footage and candid interviews confirms there's nobody quite like Mike or the team he led to victory.

Tv Season Info

In the fall of 1997, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls began their quest to win a sixth NBA title in eight years. But despite all Jordan had achieved since his sensational debut 13 years earlier, "The Last Dance," as coach Phil Jackson called it, would be shadowed by tension with the club's front office and the overwhelming sense that this was the last time the world would ever see the greatest player of all time, and his extraordinary teammates, in full flight.

It's the present-day packaging and presentation of The Last Dance that allows us to understand why he's such a legend.

Serves as an education, a reintroduction, and a spiritual reunion for one of the great basketball teams of all time. It is as farcically self-involved as it sounds, but how else would one capture Jordan's singular, single-minded essence?

This is the Jordan show - as it should be. By the end, you won't want to be like Mike. But your awe of his superpowers will run even deeper. Something tells me Jordan will be just fine with that.

"The Last Dance" shows the best dances are done with a partner, or in this case, several.

I struggle so much with the blatant subjectivity in the miniseries because, these complaints aside, goddammit, is The Last Dance entertaining and affecting!

Audience Reviews for The Last Dance: Season 1

A thoroughly enjoyable series that united us during the quarantine. The cinematography, editing, and structure is very well laid out, especially considering how many parties were involved and how long this has been in the works. Overall, the efforts highlight Michael Jordan's greatness. It is heavily biased in Michael's favour, but that is expected given his level of input (this was also echoed by Pippen and Rodman). This undoubtedly paves the way for a new era of sports documentaries.

A gripping look at the legacy of the Bull's dynasty. Incredibly interesting pull back of the curtain of Michael Jordan and a look at how basketball and the NBA impacted the world.

  • Jun 27, 2020
Perfectly structured, tensely and thought provokingly executed, Netflix and ESPN's "The Last Dance" is one of the greatest sports stories ever told, by one of the best teams that ever played and lead by one of the greatest athletes of all time!
  • Jun 18, 2020
One of the best sport's documentaries I've ever seen.
  • Jun 18, 2020
Grueling to watch until last episode.
  • Jun 16, 2020
Too bombastic and loud. Quite convoluted in its storytelling. MJ's control over the editing is glaring. I wish this had been directed in a more sober and objective way.
  • Jun 15, 2020
Series debuted during the covid19 pandemic filling the sport's void of that time. Good retelling of Bulls and MJs dominance, but mostly a highlight reel, opposed to any great revelations and after 10 hours in came to an abrupt end without addressing in any great detail the fallout of the teams disbanding.
