The Last Dance - 10/10. Michael Jordan is the GOAT. A god of basketball and icon across the world. With greatness comes great interest in how that greatness is attained, and what the price of success is. In short, The Last Dance is iconic, superb, deep in-depth, and a benchmark as to how documentaries about sport should be made. Featuring spectacular and revealing behind the scenes footage of the Chicago Bulls during their swan song season of 1997-1998, the documentary takes us into the minds of Jordan and his teammates. The multifaceted and all around juggernaut Scottie Pippen. The wild, eccentric and live wire Dennis Rodman. The cool and composed snipers John Paxson and Steve Kerr. The man who had to fight an uphill battle because of things out of his control, Toni Kukoc. The methodical and always zen Phil Jackson. And that's just a few of the vast interesting subjects interviewed for the docuseries. What's incredible is how the series digs deep into the mind and life of Jordan. Yes, its obviously hard to go into detail about everything that he has done, but the documentary does a spectacular job of going through the burning questions and stories about him. Not shying away from some of his controversies (the gambling, constant hardships he put on teammates, the "republicans buy shoes too" remark, his feud with Isiah Thomas, etc) we get to see and hear Jordan go through each topic with so much in-depth analysis. Its like watching a seminar into the mind of a successful person. You get an understanding as to why he is the way he is, why he is super competitive, and most importantly, why basketball means so much to him. People want to be Like Mike, but the footage shows its not all rosey and great. What I also appreciate is that we get both sides of the opinions. We hear the detractors and we hear the unfiltered criticisms on the man, giving way for perspective as to why everything Jordan does will always matter. This is especially a goldmine for sports fans due to no sports happening during the coronavirus lockdown. If you love sports or documentaries, this is ESSENTIAL viewing!

*THE LAST DANCE* Rating 9/9.5 or 4.5/5 An insight into the Chicago Bulls locker room as they try the three-peat for the second-time in the 1997-1998 season while the question remains if this might be the last time this squad that many believe to be the best team to have ever played the game of basketball be together on court. Electrifying, breath-taking and simply majestic. This series surely helps put Michael Jordan above any other athlete on this planet. His drive, his motivation and his passion towards the game of basketball sends a chill down your spine every time the Bulls' team that had MJ, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr walk down the tunnel with their pre-match huddle chant. The atmosphere, the direction, the frames, the truth, every little detail tells you why this has to be one of the most exciting and influencing series or 'documentary' as many critics regard it as. Michael Jordan's new documentary, that came out a couple months ago, is compelling and a good look at one the world's best pro basketball teams. It blends interviews and real footage to create a coherent story on the lives of the players. For this being my first show review, definitely give this a watch. Even if your not a basketball player yourself.

If you like documentaries on Michael Jordan, you'll love this. My biggest complaints about this series are that it jumps back and forth from decade to decade and it focuses on Michael Jordan about 99% of the time and the rest of the Bulls squad split up the remaining 1%. I would rather have seen a more chronological layout of events. I also would have liked to have seen more focus on the TEAM and not just MJ. I swear...I'm not an MJ hater. I realize it's like trying to tell the story of the San Francisco 49ers by minimizing Joe Montana's role. Also, from episode to episode, there's a lot of repetitiveness. The series has 10 episodes. Had it been less redundant and better-edited, I think they could have accomplished the same thing in 4-5 episodes. Still, the series is good to watch if you're a fan of the Bulls or professional basketball in general.
