What to Know

Critics Consensus

Jennifer Garner's sensitive performance brings some heart to the proceedings, but monotonous pacing and a glossy veneer keep this mystery from standing out from the pack.

For being classified as a “thriller” by Wikipedia and IMDb (and classified as more of a “mystery” by me) the show is full of heart, largely because of Jennifer Garner’s naturally gentle nature. Go to Full Review

The storytelling is too clean, the relationships carefully mapped out, the plot revelations neatly segmented. Nothing leaps off the screen. Go to Full Review

The Last Thing He Told Me plays out like an average thriller with nothing new to offer but works for a lazy afternoon watch. Go to Full Review

It's an interesting premise but lacks the kind of edgy urgency that would make it into a compelling thriller. Go to Full Review

The Last Thing He Told Me is a toothless family drama that’s too unsatisfying to even be just a fun mystery, making this one of Hello Sunshine’s most lackluster titles. Go to Full Review

Andrei D @RT74856639 Apr 28 Not as smart or dramatic as it thinks it is, but it has some solid story beats and it's weirdly well acted given the sometimes shlocky lines See more Marsha L @RT46201755 Apr 22 One of the most awful waste of time plots I've encountered in quite some time. Not worth the subscription to watch See more Phi S @PhiSchmo Apr 15 Jennifer, you should have stayed down on the farm, because 'what's in your wallet', isn't going to be enough to pay your bills, if you keep trying to get back into the industry by picking terrible scripts and bad writers to get you there! Season 1 of The Last Thing He Told Me was green lit for Season 2 titled The Second To The Last Thing He Told Me. The writing think tank for the show have also fleshed out Season 3, I think That's What He Told Me and Season 4, I should've Written Down What He Told Me, with possible plot skeletons for Season 5, Was That A 5 Or A 6 In That Cell Number He Told Me? Either way, you're out Jen. Good riddance, stick with whoring yourself to bottom-feeding credit card companies or hawking you're veggie and fruit pulp products to the elementary school set, but your movie and TV days are over! See more Liz E. @Volsfanliz77 Mar 31 WTF with the splat BS?! I read the (first) book and I pretty much think the cast of the show was fantastic and brought this concept and characters to life in the most fun, not overly serious way. I recall (from reading years back) having some issue with the novel that was well-interpreted visually in S1 of the show. I am not.trying to argue this is the top tier show but I do think that Garner, Rice, Niko, Morse, and Stultz -- among others- are impressively cast as to enhance my enjoyment of this fictional story. I was not an Alias fan but I do really enjoy Garner as Hannah and Rice as her stepdaughter. I only ever think to write a positive review because I am shocked by the negativity of overall criticisms. Further, I am glad that I didn't let bad reviews ruin my show experience. I hear this exact refrain about good entertainment and shows -cast negatively- quite often. GenX here to say that I only ever think about writing anything after I positively experience a show or book See more J L @jflysonic Mar 15 Just plain bad, tried watching it twice but I couldn't. See more Anon Y @RT25326477 Mar 15 The acting is ATROCIOUS, the plot so boring and slow and predictable but also all over the place and not portrayed accurately. Characters are not believable and superbly miscast It’s literally painful to watch. I’m watching it because I figured if Jennifer Garner is in it it must be decent, but even she can’t carry this pathetic lackluster waste of time. It’s not thrilling, or exciting, or suspenseful, or heartwarming . It’s super low quality and low budget and it shows It should never have been a series, a bad made for TV movie at best See more Read all reviews
