Tv Season Info

Season 2 opens in Jarden, Texas, aka Miracle, a town known the world over for not losing a single person to the "Sudden Departure," and one where Kevin (Justin Theroux), Jill (Margaret Qualley), Nora (Carrie Coon) and baby Lily hope to start anew with a clean slate. Preceded by Matt (Christopher Eccleston), who's found a new preaching gig, and his wife, Mary (Janel Moloney), they're welcomed by their new neighbors and lifelong residents Erika (Regina King) and John Murphy (Kevin Carroll). The latter, however, is leery of charlatans and carpetbaggers who seek to profit from Miracle's reputation, but that stature is called into question after three young girls vanish without a trace. Back on the East Coast, Tom (Chris Zylka) goes undercover to lure skeptics from the Guilty Remnant, while Laurie (Amy Brenneman) works on a tell-all book to expose the chain-smoking cult's silent campaign of intimidation. Also starring Ann Dowd, Liv Tyler, Jovan Adepo, Steven Williams and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

But the thing is, most of those dizzy moments - including the first episode's epic opening, which seems tethered to nothing else - are as entertaining as they are mystifying.

The new season makes a start so fresh, it's almost a rebooting: new location, new characters, an occasional smile. The show remains uniquely interested in coping-or not-with tragedy, but flashes of something that looks like hope have entered the scene.

Audience Reviews for The Leftovers: Season 2

½

Season 2 of The Leftover improved from the first season by bringing in an interweaving plot with more mysteries and open ended interpretations to the story to force viewers to exercise their judgement. Not for everyone but viewers enjoying more than just mindless drama would enjoy this season.
