Sue Perkins continues her epic journey up the Mekong, south east Asia's greatest river, reaching the home of its source - China. She follows the river through the country's wildest and most spectacular valleys, meeting its colourful and joyful peoples. But as the Chinese economic miracle sweeps through these remote regions, she reveals how ancient ways of life are changing and asks what will China save of its past. Finally, after three thousand miles, high on the Tibetan Plateau, she joins a group of nuns as they make an offering to the gods. In this life-changing experience, Sue realises the eternal bond between people, gods and the mighty Mekong.
