Season 1
The Millers

Critics Consensus

Margo Martindale and the comically able ensemble help to elevate The Millers above its typical sitcom format, though the writing is still mostly generic.

Critic Reviews for The Millers Season 1

All Critics (36) | Top Critics (19)

The humor is driven mostly by a relentless slapstick vulgarity, particularly concerning the flatulence and sex habits of parents. If you've got a high tolerance for those sorts of jokes, it is funny indeed.

Oct 3, 2013 | Full Review…

The Millers seems to hint that it will branch out beyond annoying-parent jokes, but if the lazy crudity of the jokes is any indication, we don't have all that much to look forward to.

The Millers shows what a thing of glory hear-the-laughs sitcomedy can be in the hands of masters.

There's plenty to sustain The Millers over what could be a pretty long haul. The show has both star quality and stars who know how to work the material.

With a generic title like The Millers, this show clearly isn't promising innovation. Viewers who enjoy familiarity will be satisfied and sometimes pleasantly surprised.

It's goofy, but fun.

Sep 25, 2013 | Full Review…

Everyone works so hard - including Arnett, even if he never lets you see him sweat - that this comes very close to succeeding. Make it a little less broad in future weeks, and it might.

May 5, 2017 | Full Review…

There's nothing about it that screams brilliant, but beneath the mediocre premise, it's oddly likable.

Oct 3, 2013 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

This show has the woeful distinction of being the biggest turd in the crap basket.

Oct 2, 2013 | Rating: 2.5/10 | Full Review…

The Millers is definitely shooting for the lowest common denominator. The jokes are crude and broad. The pilot includes a running gag about whether or not mom farted.

Sep 26, 2013 | Full Review…

Is it good? Not yet. But the cast could make so.

Sep 25, 2013 | Rating: 2.5/5 | Full Review…

Crass but sweet sitcom better suited to adults.
