The Mindy Project: Season 2 Photos

Tv Season Info

Series 2 picks up where the first one left off as Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) is rushed back to New York from Haiti after falling ill, only to find that Shulman & Associates has hired a dashing new ob-gyn (James Franco), and there's another doctor, Peter (Adam Pally), waiting in the wings to join the practice. Meanwhile, Jeremy (Ed Weeks) is disappointed by a visit from his father (Alan Dale); Morgan (Ike Barinholtz) sues Mindy for sexual harassment after she reneges on a promise; Danny (Chris Messina) ponders legal action with lawyer Cliff (Glenn Howerton) when his ex-wife's art exhibit features nude photos of him; and a staff trip to Los Angeles to improve their clientele sparks a series of second-guessing, missed connections and mistaken identities that pays off in a worthy tribute to series creator Kaling's beloved romantic comedies. Guest stars include Dan Hedaya, Jenna Elfman, Tim Daly, Max Minghella, Timothy Olyphant and Anna Gunn.

Critic Reviews for The Mindy Project Season 2

All Critics (17) | Top Critics (9)

And that's how it's done. After a weak beginning, The Mindy Project showed us how off-beat, smart comedies can deliver. Mindy sure did.

Liking characters isn't essential to successful comedy - see the works of Larry David and Ricky Gervais, for instance - but you're setting the laugh bar much higher in that case, and Mindy isn't clearing it for me.

I'm constantly wondering why more people aren't willing to take their relationship with both characters and this consistently hilarious show to the next... level.

Physical comedy truly is the way to my heart.

Franco's smile is infectious and should prove a great addition to the cast for as long as he remains.

Sep 18, 2013 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

Mindy spent a lot of time last season trying to find its voice - and given the tone, rhythm, and finesse of the premiere's best lines, it seems like that journey yielded good results.

Jan 2, 2014 | Full Review…

The Mindy Project isn't the first sitcom to fearlessly pursue serialized story lines, but the show weaves them together well, and with total confidence.

One of the show's best qualities is how aggressively it resists the stifling obligations of the ethnic groundbreaker: Lahiri isn't ever a role model or an underdog.

There's the sense that The Mindy Project finally has all of the pieces it needs to create a show that's consistently good, instead of just erratically so.

Some good laughs, surrounded by a number of oddly shaped pieces.

Audience Reviews for The Mindy Project: Season 2

I was concerned about Mindy Kaling new TV series before it started. I have read her book and she is funny. Her role and writing in the hit television show, The Office is also pretty funny, but tackling her own show? Now, that is the surprise. Mindy Kaling is a gifted comedy writer and actress. In Mindy Project she used the often cliche in romantic comedies movies or TV shows and adds a twist to it. The series also has one hilarious cast ensemble. From Chris Messina as Dr Danny Castellano, who plays your stereotype Italian macho man, but often caught in weird situations. Followed by Dr Jeremy Reed (played by Ed Weeks), who is a British doctor and has many personal issues. He is a ladies man, but with a daddy issue, which as you can expect often caught him in an awkward situation and discussion. There is also Morgan Tookers (played by Ike Barinholtz), which without a doubt is the funniest character in the show. Morgan is a male-nurse. He is weird but has a golden heart, he is also Mindy's best friend, or so he he thought. The reasons why I watched the series is because of Mindy and her fairy-tale romantic expectations. She is smart but at the same time shallow and very very eccentric. Season 1 has been good, but season 2 is awesome. I know not many people agree with me on the second season, because the writers keep on adding new characters and forget about the old one's. But, so what? many TV shows has been doing that. The season 1 is an experiment, but the second season is the real deal. I really really hope it will see a third season, cause you know what? the series deserved it. 83/100.
