Critics Consensus

Probing, if not always particularly hilarious, The Problem With Jon Stewart takes a few episodes to find its feet, but Stewart's wit and fury keep things moving along.

Stewart is a terrific interviewer but the show doesn't yet feel as fun or authoritative as Last Week Tonight. Go to Full Review
Doreen St. Felix The New Yorker 10/22/2021
Part of that may be because of the vitality of its guests, Jenifer Lewis and Bassem Youssef. Maybe "the problem" with the series is Stewart himself. Go to Full Review

Whatever his own reservations about it all, For viewers, this new opportunity to see Stewart in all his guises is a welcome moment of zen. Go to Full Review

Heartfelt though such conversations may be, they're also examples of everyone agreeing with each other. That unanimity of thought may be satisfying to some, but these discussions are hardly likely to make viewers question their own opinions. Go to Full Review

Just because it isn't necessary doesn't mean it's not good, and for what it is - 60 Minutes with a profane, self-deprecating host - it is good... The other issue is this: There's nothing visually interesting. Go to Full Review

Corey W 02/10/2023 Simply having Jon Stewart back in the driver's seat is enough, but the show's unflinching boldness and the caliber of interviewee make for some riveting television. This is a different Stewart than the one we knew a decade ago. He's older, more impatient and, like the rest of us, sick and tired of the state of world affairs. It's not as funny as the Daily Show but The Problem With Jon Stewart has the potential to be just as important. See more Sawyer M 10/08/2022 This is bad, real bad. Lots and lots of cringe. See more robert o 10/03/2022 I used to be a huge fan of the Daily Show when John Stewart was the host. He once was insightful, honest, and was true to his word. As for John Stewart's current show, you can tell right off the bat that this is propaganda. I'm so sad to see someone of character sell out on such a colossal scale. See more Young S @Stevie 07/17/2022 This is bad. Outside of white masochistic progressives- no need to watch. It's certainly not out to persuade anyone, skip. See more 05/14/2022 J can get interviews with POWERFUL people, and he doesn't waste our time. He asks them relevant, probing questions, which the media should be asking, but doesn't have the stones to do. Jon Stewart: doing reporters job for them since 1999. See more The Young W 03/31/2022 Great show insightful quests, great progressive segments fact-based and well-reseached topics all right wingers seething and crying in the comments make me laugh sorry reality and science has left wing bias no sane person likes or support sociopathic homophobic anti working-class right-wingers whose main political philosophy is bootlicking corporation and oligarchs. Left is best and this show is great. See more Read all reviews
