Stick through the uneven first half of The Red Tent and you will be rewarded with a livelier conclusion that channels vintage miniseries in the best way: It's epic! Go to Full Review

From a secular perspective, The Red Tent may not exactly be an epic, but it's an engaging and very well cast story of the triumph and resilience of the female spirit. Go to Full Review

Easy to get caught up in. The beautiful cinematography makes tent life in a desert look appealing, and it is easy to feel a connection with the characters through the excellent acting. Go to Full Review

It's not of that [Game of Thrones] ilk and ultimately dreary, even for feminists who reveled in the book. Go to Full Review

07/01/2016 Very good and interesting story told from the perspective of Dinah and the women of Jacob. It didn't stick to the script of the bible, but, still great to watch and glad to see these stories come to life. See more 07/28/2015 For the most part, this was an interesting between-the-lines account of Dinah. See more 07/07/2015 Complicated, since it depends upon a multiculturalist sensibility, this revision of the life of Jacob and his wives (and children). If you liked Crowe's Noah and The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, you would like this series. It massages the biblical account much like Noah did, while, unlike Noah, discounting the deity of the Bible and such things and ignoring totally Jacob's wrestling with that deity and the promise made to him (as such would give such a god leverage over the female deities the women in the series pledged their fealty to). So, to me, the problem behind the premise of the series is the same logical problem that faces multiculturalism: that there is no ultimate truth besides that which embraces all cultures, and that any claim to primacy made by the Bible's Yahweh is suspect, to say the least. The basis of this series is that truth has been hijacked by men (as opposed to women). If true, then the Bible, including all its apostolic writings, is in many ways a historical relic badly in need of revision. To many today, that is the verdict. This series is an argument for that. (The overall problem with multiculturalism's demand that all faiths be embraced is that many of those faiths are totally incompatible!) See more 06/02/2015 "The Red Tent" es la historia de la familia de Jacob, de quienes siempre hemos visto y, pero es bastante revelador ver la otra cara de la moneda al enfocarnos en su hija Dinah y sus madres quienes relatan de forma excelente la historia de las tribus religiosas, las costumbres y la controversia que significa vivir en un mundo donde la intolerancia lleva a las familias de distintas religiones a malinterpretar las cosas y destruirse entre ellos.
