The bucolic tranquility of Greylock, N.H., is upended when a massive vein of coltan, an incredibly valuable mineral used in tech, is discovered under the town. Lydon Industries swoops in with plans to extract the mineral and wipe Greylock off the map. With her friends and family in danger of losing their homes, rebellious high school teacher Sarah Cooper vows to stop Lydon's bulldozers. Sarah enlists her friends in the fight, but there seems to be no way to stop the town's impending demise -- until Sarah proposes an oddly intriguing solution: Greylock could declare independence. If Sarah and her friends can convince the town to vote for independence, Greylock would gain international sovereignty and could protect its land for good. After a federal judge agrees that Greylock isn't -- and never was -- part of the United States, the town becomes a new nation. Now, Sarah and her allies must confront an even more daunting task and build a country from scratch.

The balancing act between all the intersecting storylines is solid, if perfunctory. With that many characters, and an extraordinary amount of plot to burn through in every episode, not everyone gets enough to do. Go to Full Review

It's built on a cool premise and puts extra effort into world-building, but even though we're located in an interesting time and place, this drama feels a bit colorless. Go to Full Review

Sarah is brave and a little bit quirky and she can definitely handle a classroom full of obnoxious teenagers. But leading a small nation and a new TV show is a lot to ask. It's sad to type this, but she fails both tasks judging from the pilot alone. Go to Full Review

Has its charms, but the premise is unsustainable. Go to Full Review

The Republic of Sarah is something entirely new and I can say with absolute honesty that there's nothing else quite like it onscreen at the moment. But as original as its premise might be, how long can this possibly continue? Go to Full Review

The Republic of Sarah treats ideas as fashion accessories. And anybody who remembers bellbottoms or saddle shoes knows what happens to those. Go to Full Review

01/20/2022 Once again, the viewing public crazy about a unique show that the critics pan with unctuous and elitist, supercilious arrogance. Who cares if the plot cannot be projected to a forecasted and sustainable finish? The basic premise is absolutely exhilarating, and relationships in this microcosm of a brave new world are compelling. Whoever is paying the critics for their opinions are clearly wasting their money. This gem should be right up there with the classic shows of Northern Exposure, China Beach, Longmire .... all of which were originally panned, most likely because they were too well thought out, and too ground-breaking for the corporate minds to comprehend. So glad I recorded all episodes. See more 11/14/2021 Love the storyline and the characters. Looking forward to next season. See more 10/12/2021 "The Republic of Sarah" casting, storyline, acting and music blend, all rise to the level of a perfect pitch Pentatonix' harmony to form a masterpiece of emotionally driven, yet logical, relationships and conclusions. The main character, high school teacher Sarah Cooper played by Stella Baker -- and her juxtaposition to everyone in town when she is voted their leader -- hits all the right notes of a great Merlot on the way to sharing one real life truth after another, one scene revealing pearl in an oyster, at a time. It's just too bad it only lasted One frickin' Season. I'll be telling everyone I can about this small northern town attempting to become a country, while proving that, the good of the many outweigh the good of the few, even to the detriment of personal interest. The CW Network is not scheduling a second season and cold shame on them for that!. By the end of episode 13, I was smiling, laughing, shouting, and crying. Excellent, excellent job: Stella Baker, Luke Mitchell, Megan Follows, Hope Lauren, Nia Holloway and crew! Deserves a 6th Star if they had such a thing. -Ladner Morse See more 08/24/2021 I'm really enjoying this series. It's an original concept with strong actors, interesting story and I look forward to watching it each week. Hoping it gets a renewal for Season 2. See more 07/08/2021 Love the concept! So many shows are remakes and this is genuinely a fresh idea. Love the dynamics between the townspeople, everyone has a story and there's so much to unravel. In addition to the fascinating concept of building a country from scratch this has all the drama and character development we know and love from the CW! Stella Baker and Luke Mitchell are excellent!
