"The Romanoffs" feels like a glitzy showcase for mediocre stories with a tenuous connection to each other. It's a disappointing second act from the guy who created one of the best dramas in TV history.

An ambitious series that despite some inconsistencies, still stands out. [Full Review in Spanish]

A real story about the existencialism and how to endure in time. [Full review in Spanish]

The Romanoffs is worth dipping into, but don't hesitate to skip a few and fast-forward liberally.

If you are looking for some of the spark that was the Jon Hamm-led Mad Men to show up in The Romanoffs, it fundamentally does not.

I stuck up for "The Romanoffs" through episode four, even claiming that the show's unevenness - which a majority of less-impressed critics were emphasizing in their reviews - was part of its individualistic charm. But then disappointment set in.

The theme's not clear yet... But in its study of imperial arrogance, perhaps The Romanoffs offers a mirror of fantasies of property and power with our current American political delusions of persecution and disinheiritment.

The script is witty and is unpredictable - some plot twists are almost too unbelievable, but make for satisfying melodrama...

It was painfully slow, sometimes incoherent, and it was hard to escape the conclusion that Inside No 9 does this sort of thing better with a fraction of the budget.

The Romanov hook seems more like a writer's prompt than an essential element of each episode.

Assembling characters who can best tell the story you want is essential work as a writer, but to think these decisions can be made while dealing selectively with their social context is fatally naive.

I haven't seen anything on TV or streaming as good since Fargo, but it is night and day in tone and style, akin to the best of European films.

So far, The Romanoffs is beautiful to look at , but the rest of the qualities that made Mad Men so great remain elusive.

Matthew Weiner's new series has fallen to be the most forgetful of series. [Full Review in Spanish]

The Romanoffs, based on what has streamed so far, is gorgeous, humane and slyly perceptive about human nature, especially in the matter of delusion.

The Romanoffs, coming from Matthew Weiner of Mad Men, is deeply lovely.

While the theme doesn't work as well at it could have, there is more than enough originality and great acting here to make this a series to check out.

The appeal of The Romanoffs so far lies in the actors set to appear. As is the Weiner tradition, very little information about each episode is available, but we do have an extensive and impressive cast list to look at.

Despite all its flash, The Romanoffs ultimately feels as wooden and hollow as a Russian nesting doll.
