Season 1
The Sauce
The moves are on pointe, but The Sauce's episodes are simply too short and scattershot to satisfy.

[T]he dance battle show [has] a nice hint of Top Chef or Project Runway.
The dancing is impressive, but the show goes out of the way to unpack the technical skills on display.
A street-dance-competition show with some entertaining figures and zero discernible structure, The Sauce is a reminder that the best way to experience the miracle of human physical art is in sliced-together edits on a very tiny screen.
The Sauce strikes a good balance between educating those of us unfamiliar with terms like juking, lightfoot, or flexing and presenting high-energy routines that will leave even street dance experts marveling at the acrobatic feats and footwork.
Unfortunately, the dance-offs themselves aren't shot or edited with enough energy to capture all of the joy and technical expertise that clearly are at work here.
Again, not for me, but even if I'm indifferent to dance offs it's impossible not to respect the talent, effort, and moves on display here. I
The "show" element almost feels like an afterthought here - like the filmmakers just stumbled upon a group of youths dancing and haphazardly edited it to resemble a series. Still, these kids have moves, let me tell you.
For someone who knows very little about dance, The Sauce doesn't provide enough context for the uninitiated.
Street dance competition has great moves, swearing.
