7DS is a big, chaotic adventure that admittedly manages to change things up often enough to keep the story fresh. It's all fairly surface-level stuff though, so don't expect any deeper meaning or complex characters if you dive in.

It has all the typical hallmarks of a solid anime series, from its animation style to character archetypes, and admittedly it doesn't do a great deal to reinvent that particular wheel. It does, however, offer up a good version of it.

This is a show that is old fashioned fun and brimming with charm and humor.

May 8, 2019 | Full Review…

Nothing about this story is fresh or original, and yet it's the most fun you can have without actually suiting up for your own quest.

May 8, 2019 | Full Review…

[The Seven Deadly Sins] does tend to get a bit gropey and pervy at times, and it doubles down on the fan service, but if you look past that, The Seven Deadly Sins is a solid action series.

May 8, 2019 | Full Review…

There are tons of great fights, interesting and endearingly strange characters, and the animation and designs of the series are brilliant. If you're looking for a great gateway anime, Netflix has provided a basic, but exciting answer in Seven Deadly Sins.

Although not without some interesting characters and entertaining brawls, the show is pretty generically formulated.

Tense, heady, and boasting plot twists that spring surprises right and left, this series is an enticing pick for teen manga and fantasy fans.

Audience Reviews for The Seven Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no taizai): The Seven Deadly Sins

The first 3 seasons are gold, and the first half of the 4th is decent. After around the halfway point of the 4th season, the show clearly shifts to older material. It doesn't flow with the rest of the story, and has severe continuity errors even within the same scene (watch swords break and then be in someone's hand, watch a helmet be on the ground, then on a head, then in the air). Truly a sad ending, as the rest of the show was fantastic.

Not one i would name in one breath with the classics like DBZ, Bleach, One Piece BUT ... It just feels so fresh i can't help but like it. Plot twists all the time, fan service galore and that stupid humor you can't help but laugh with. In short, something you should not like but can't help but do.

The first season of this show is fantastic; fun, high action, flashy visuals, interesting stories and characters, the works. A little more fan-servicey and lecherous than I'd like, but no moreso than the average anime. Unfortunately, season 2 is extremely short, just a few transition episodes between the first story arc and the next, and season 3 is a travesty. It's so incredibly bad that it drags down the whole franchise. The "animation" is so low quality it's amazing any self-respecting studio would put their name on it. Where the first season has flashy abilities and dynamic combat, the third season is barely animated at all, using primarily still shots where the camera pans over a static image, trying and failing to create the illusion of movement. The animation is so bad, I barely made it through the first episode of season 3 and just turned off the second episode halfway through out of disgust. This was particularly frustrating because the excellent first season is revealed to just be the set up for the story that this season is supposed to deliver on, so it retroactively drags the whole series down with it. Netflix or whoever is paying for these to be produced should hire a new studio and just delete the first release of season 3 from existence; the franchise would be vastly improved as a result. As it is, it's difficult to recommend the series knowing the colossal disappointment that's in store for any viewers hooked by the first season.

One of my favorite animes. Has so much action, mystery, and romance! Everything you could ever want!

One of my favorite anime's, not greatest but has the potential to be the greatest. Me and my oldest son both fell in love with this series..

The humour is embarrassingly childish. "But the protagonists are children!" Yes, with super powers, which only adds to the ridiculousness. Also they seem to be invincible as even the most severe blows don't affect them at all. The plot itself also is nothing to brag about.

This show is disturbingly bad. It lacks imagination and attempts to be amusing at times, and drastically fails.
  • May 31, 2020
The plot of this anime is concise and have very funny moments.

If you're like me and grew up getting attached to an anime where romance was always built up but never fulfilled, you'll love this. I'm a big fan when an anime not only creates a solid foundation for a relationship, but goes full hog (HA) commuting to it and not just teasing it. Separate from that, this anime has a ton of action. While we've seen similar story lines before, this story takes flight in its own amazing universe with amazing characters to boot.
