Tv Season Info

Surprisingly, the characters of Patty and Selma Bouvier (Marge's grumpy, chain-smoking sisters) are the focus of two of series 16's most-notable installments. In "There's Something About Marrying," Springfield legalizes same-sex marriage, which prompts Patty to finally come out of the closet (the episode was promoted with the teaser that one of show's characters would be revealed as gay). And in "Goo Goo Gai Pan," the Simpsons travel to China with Selma, who wants to adopt an orphan. The family, of course, also get into wacky antics that don't involve hot-button issues: Bart becomes a T-shirt designer, Homer teaches sports mascots how to dance and Marge enters a cooking contest.

And 15 years after its launch, "The Simpsons" is still a guaranteed laugh-out-loud riot.

This works because the show also manages to continually tell fun stories each week.

While it's still tons of fun, some of the pop culture references are dated.

... it felt like The Simpsons wanted to be the EDGY show it once was.

Audience Reviews for The Simpsons: Season 16

  • Nov 26, 2016
Season 16 plays to the show's strengths. A good example of this are the religious themed episodes Thank God It's Doomsday, and The Father, the Son, and the Holy Guest Star. These episodes show how clever the writers can be delivering great character-based stories and dealing with religious themes in a fair and satirical manor.

Funny at times but sometimes it isn't funny at all, show has been going on too long now i think, overall it is isn't too bad

An unfortunately weak effort from the crew. Give it up already, guys.
