Based on the children's fantasy books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, "The Spiderwick Chronicles" chronicles the adventures of the Grace children. Helen Grace and her children -- Jared, Simon and Mallory -- move from New York to their ancestral home, Spiderwick, in Michigan. Jared, 15, discovers a boggart and realizes that magical creatures are real. His great-aunt Lucinda implores Jared to find the pages of her father's field guide to magical creatures and protect them from the murderous ogre, Mulgarath.

It has a distinct enough mythology that it could garner enough of a fan base to garner a season two. Still, I was underwhelmed by how mediocre the overall first season ended, leaving me without any desire to see where this story could go next.

The focus on the Grace family, and particularly Jared's mental health, is welcome, although it does overwhelm the plot and become repetitive as the season wears on. The lacklustre FX and terrible theme song detract. A soft recommend for fans of the books

I sincerely hope this show continues! I wish people with a low acceptance would not review. All the time, money, characters, building the show- let it be continued. I absolutely love movies like this and hate it when there's not a huge spotlight on advertising. Please, please, continue this show!!!!!

This show was so freaking good. I truly hope that they make a season 2. It was everything that I needed. I love the suspense and the magic in the show. PLEASE MAKE A SEASON 2!!!!!!!

The series was entertaining for both our 13 year old Granddaughter and us old fogies' alike. The acting was quite good and the storyline fun. I would have given it a 4 but it was a little too long and drawn out and the ending sucked. Spoiler alert! I know they make these endings so the audience will want to come back and see more but that didn't work for us. We will not watch season 2, as there is fear the story will never end. I like a good conclusion and then a new storyline on the sequel.

My kids and I really enjoyed this version of the spiderwick chronicles. The characters were really good, the story felt like it was just scratching the surface and I hope we get to see more!
