Very good Tv series. Suspenseful and very good acting!

An entertaining telling of one of Israel's most famous spies, Eli Cohen. Baron Cohen does an admirable effort in the lead but at times seems to try to hard.

The miniseries The Spy from Netflix revolves around the spy Eli Cohen, who rises to the highest ranks of Syrian society in the 1960s and always acts on behalf of Israel. "The Spy" gives Sasha Baron Cohen a chance to prove his acting skills outside of comedy, and he does it brilliantly! I found the series really exciting from beginning to end because I was lucky and didn't know the real case of Kamal Amin Thabet and therefore I didn't know how the series was going to end. The setting of the series also has to be mentioned separately because it was also great. Really big respect to the set builders on my part! I also like the idea of adjusting the color-grading depending of which city we are in.

The TV series, The Spy depicted the real life of Israel's top spy Eli Cohen. Throughout the show, I was very happy that it didn't feel too cheesy. Although dramatized, it was a tense time and situation for the spy that the viewer followed. When he was finally caught, they "found recorded tapes that were to be sent to Israel, disappearing ink, fingers of gelatin, Swiss checkbooks, and other equipment for spying"(Ben-Hanan 123), which showed the authentic side of spying. The show did an excellent job depicting the tools and innovative methods to send information back to Isreal. I originally watched the show, and after looking through sources from the actual time of the event, I could pinpoint all these moments. The most impressive part was their depiction of Eli's integration into Serían society. He explained over the radio how, "I went to Beirut, and from there, via Europe, to Israel. I informed the Center that I had managed to make friends with an officer by the name of Ma'azi Zaher a-Din. They ordered me to tighten my contacts with him . . . " (Ben-Hanan 121) (note 9). This moment demonstrates Eli speaking about his mission and how far into the plan he had gotten. This scene was demonstrated in the show depicting his training to find connections that would allow him to reach his target. Overall I found this show accurate to the period, from the clothing to the language and emotions felt. I think that the Golden Globe nomination speaks to the influence and accuracy of the show.

That everything in this story is factual helps eliminate what otherwise would be disbelief at some of the events. Sacha Cohen plods through it but his flat acting doesn't diminish this limited series at all. The real Eli Cohen pulled off some astounding events that changed the course of Israel's history in the early 60's. Entertaining and wildly interesting!

Definitely a solid spy mini-series, I wasn't disappointed. I wanted to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a serious roll, and you get just that. A good drama, with top notch acting, well drawn out scenes with some hints of excitement here and there, although tame. A great re-telling of a true story.

I loved this miniseries - I watched it twice over several months. Sasha Baron Cohen is brilliant in this dramatic account based on the true story of Israeli spy Eli Cohen. Baron shows that he is more than just a comedic and satirical actor. Baron's portrayal of Cohen was probably over-dramatized and flamboyant for audience appeal. But, the series, nonetheless, delivers suspense, intrigue, espionage, tradecraft and the conflict over having to choose between family and country. Noah Emmerich, who starred as the FBI Agent in the long-running spy series, "The Americans," also stars in this series. It pulls the viewer in quickly and holds them throughout. You could binge on this in one or two days, easily. I've recommended it to all my friends.

Very good series that don't just portray the spy as a James Bond but more realistic. The story itself is fascinating. Only problem is the dialogs in the last episode are superficial
