Critics Consensus

Though at times stodgy, The Spy's exploration of a real-life hero remains engaging thanks to a moving performance from Sacha Baron Cohen.

This dark edge is not quite present in Baron Cohen's performance.

The only way a show like this will work is with a magnetic presence at its center, and Cohen is engaging at best.

The Spy is another high-wire act from the nonpareil screen presence, albeit a shakier one that often lives and dies on the actor's very particular set of skills.

Whether you know who Eli Cohen is or not, The Spy is mostly a drab affair in celebration of a legitimate Israeli hero.

Is this globetrotting man of mystery really the same guy who played Borat? Five minutes in, you won't particularly care.

[T]his is a startlingly bold demonstration of Cohen's acting chops. It's quite the Cohenaissance.

There aren't too many story beats that will shock you or twists that will floor you, but Cohen definitely creates a character to care about.

The Spy never quite manages to rise to the level of its excellent lead actors, but ends up being a satisfying depiction of one of the more unusual success stories of international espionage.

Es una excelente miniserie que maneja una muy buena historia. Netflix debería hacer mas de este tipo de series; un Sacha Baron Cohen pasa de la comedia a lo serio, transformándose por completo. Excelente serie Netflix!!!!

well done. interesting that Osama Ben Laden's "father" has a small part.

Interesting from a historical aspect. Although they attempt to portray actual events, like most fictional spy stories, it makes very dangerous work seems like a simplistic day at the office. Everything falls into place easily. Meet up with powerful people, and work your way into their confidence, their inner circles almost immediately. Good cast. Did what they could with the less than great script. Definitely worth viewing

Fantastic details, architecture, furniture, household items, the clothes, cars, the colours, everything 1960s. So real! Incredible amount of detailed work has gone into this, a fabulous achievement. Excellent actors, excellent filming, all turns a kind of run-off-the-mill story line into something absolutely award-worthy. Bravo!
