The Unusuals: Season 1 (2009)

TOMATOMETER

Critic Consensus: Though it may try too hard to live up to its name, The Unusuals holds the viewer's interest with a fair amount of decent drama and quirky comedy.

Critic Reviews for The Unusuals Season 1

All Critics (23) | Top Critics (15)

The show is neither here nor there, neither amusing nor affecting. It doesn't really call out for further viewing, which is not so unusual at all.

Jan 30, 2014 | Full Review…

Every successful cop show needs a core squad we like, and The Unusuals seems to have a promising foundation.

Jan 30, 2014 | Full Review…

What The Unusuals lacks in cinematic sheen, it compensates with humor and [an] interesting group of characters.

Jan 30, 2014 | Full Review…

Though this drama about a New York homicide division strikes plenty of quirky notes, it's a bit of a stretch to call it "unusual."

Oct 9, 2018 | Full Review…

"The Unusuals" is not only promising, the actual pilot is good in and of itself. In under an hour, the writers manage to make you care about the four lead characters while also creating the base for a compelling season-long case.

Jun 14, 2018 | Full Review…

It has enough entertainment value to hold your attention for the hour. The cast are great, and coupled with some of the better moments in the pilot, have me hoping the show can really find its footing in the weeks to come.

Jan 30, 2014 | Rating: 7.5/10 | Full Review…

Right now, the comedy feels forced but the drama is surprisingly effective.

Jan 30, 2014 | Rating: 3.5/5 | Full Review…

What you'll find is a truly strange cop dramedy with lots of sharp dialogue, jocular banter and offbeat scenarios.

Jan 30, 2014 | Full Review…

[Adam] Goldberg... shows a lot of potential.

Unusuals is a rapid-fire, clever mix of style and content.
