They broke the internal logic of the magic system to enforce gender fluidity, systematically downgraded the male protagonists into weak, passive bystanders, and stripped away the main hero's definitive moments to elevate flawless "girlboss" characters. Coupled with clumsy, checklist diversity that ruins the worldbuilding, the show frequently feels like a modern lecture. They have an enchantment that keeps them young looking and described in very attractive terms. Instead we get a cast that looks like they work at any Walmart. Frumpy, older. It's a real 'screw you' to the fans. Multi-racial casting is fine, no issues. But they seem to have gone out of their way to tick people off. Rand is played by one of the most soulless actors imaginable and his 'love interest' has a wart on her nose. A wart. A real wart. You can't miss it. Baffling. Unfortunately, almost every major change weakened the source material instead of improving it. Perrin’s invented wife, Rand and Egwene’s relationship, the rushed pacing, the altered ending at Tarwin’s Gap, and the diminished roles of key characters all signaled that this would be a loose reinterpretation rather than a faithful adaptation. The Two Rivers never felt like the isolated, close-knit community from the books, and much of the mystery surrounding Aes Sedai and the wider world was lost. However I was thoroughly disappointed by the decisions made by the writers to completely destroy the whole world and turn it into some sort of political statement. The books had beautiful Dynamics between male and female and incredible World building and cultures. But for some reason the writers chose to completely destroy that. There were no distinct cultures they were all just big Multicultural messes which took away so much of the beauty that were in the books. And instead of Leaning into the amazing gender Dynamics they chose to ignore it and it really took away from the actual Dragon being reborn story and the strengths and weaknesses of the Ai Sedai and Warders and Flame and dragons tooth.
