      Critics Consensus

The Wheel of Time's revolutions can be a bit creaky as it tries to stand out from other fantasy series, but it succeeds admirably in making Robert Jordan's epic approachable for the uninitiated. Read critic reviews

So much potential for an amazing story that could have clearly been the next Harry Potter, but instead choice to mimic a GOT more adult theme. All I was hoping for was a series I could enjoy with my children and get them hooked on fantasy because the characters were the same age in the book. Not in the cards with this production. Also, how do you take one of the best characters in Mat and reduce him to such a solemn shell of a man? Ridiculous. I would be surprised if they make a season 3.

As a long time fan of the books, I waited the better part of my life for someone to create a screen adaptation of WoT and had high hopes for this series. Sadly, I was left dumbfounded by the altered storylines and drastic changes made by the writers. Robert Jordan created a massively intricate world full of magic, lore, and complex characters with immensely compelling plot lines. This show barely resembled that world. Why they felt the need to change SO much is beyond my understanding. I'll be curious to see if they can course correct for season 2 because this show has so much potential if it would just stick more closely to the source material. Here's to hoping!

One of the best premises for a show. One of the worst executions. If the show can learn from its mistakes, then it has a ton of potential. However, it needs a new director

Wheel of Time is one of the best shows that Amazon has produced, and if you are a fan of Lord of the Rings, you will love this show and the books as well. Great acting, great writing, strong storyline, lots of action with good production value. It has a very whimsical and endearing magical atmosphere that captures the imagination and stirs the soul. I LOVE IT! Rosamund Pike is DIVINE in this! Wheel of Time is based on the famous series of books written by Robert Jordan (and later publications include Brandon Sanderson). If you love fantasy books and need a new series, I highly recommend you read them. But most importantly watch this show! Just watch it! And you're welcome!

It's just fine. *Just* fine. I'd have rated it lower but a lot of the issues with the show, especially in episodes 1, 7, and 8, are caused by production problems, as well as the actor who plays Mat quitting partway through the series, bot things requiring numerous compromises and rewrites to get the show out. Additionally, the showrunners wanted additional episodes and the studio refused, which really exacerbated a lot of these issues. Episode 1 was seriously concerning as a result, rushing through a ton of worldbuilding and character introductions because they literally couldn't spend as much time as they needed to. Overall, really disappointed here, but there's enough good about this to where I'm cautiously optimistic for season 2

An absolute insult to Robert Jordan.

It is a well written story that both my teenage daughter and I could watch and enjoy together, a very rare thing indeed. I enjoyed that there is a complex and interesting story and not just a series of action and special effects. I like that you have to pay attention to the details. For those who found it dull or boring....perhaps storytelling, storylines and intelligent writing just isn't for you. I found this show had just the right balance between story and action.

Far better than I expected. A great cast and great writing does a lot. Most of the season is excellent. The final episode while good, was the weakest.

Yeah, it's different than the books. But! this series is amazing in its own right! We need the entire book series in this TV format!!!! Dai'shar Menethren!

I have been a fan of this book series ever since I first read The Great Hunt(the second book in the series but the first book in the series that I read) way back when I was 14 years old. I so wanted this series to be good, but it is an utter disappointment. From the very first episode where I counted 32 to things they had gotten wrong to the very last episode of the season where that number had climbed to well over 200 things they had gotten wrong, it was just terrible. I do not understand how they could have gotten so many things wrong when they have the books right there and they even list Brandon Sanderson(the man that finished the series after Robert Jordan died, and did an excellent job in finishing it) as a consulting producer. Did they just not consult him? Did they just not listen to him when they did consult him? Who knows? Regardless, it is almost completely unrecognizable from the book other than the names. Hell, they even skipped about half of the book including scenes in which several extremely important main characters are introduced. To the writers and show runners, DO BETTER. Do your absolute best to just put what is in the books on the screen and stop making changes that are absolutely not needed. And no, this has nothing to do with the diversity in the cast(don't care one bit about that) this is about the story itself. Do the story justice. It is an excellent story, just tell that story on the screen.
