A prequel to the long-running series "Supernatural," "The Winchesters" tells the epic, untold love story of how John Winchester met Mary Campbell and put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world. When John returns home from fighting in Vietnam, a mysterious encounter sparks a new mission to trace his father's past. In his journey, he crosses paths with 19-year-old demon hunter Mary, who is also searching for answers after the disappearance of her own father. Together, the two join forces to uncover the hidden truths about both of their families.

Bad writing, bad acting, bad plot. It's the most basic tropes possible, executed very poorly. Waste of a show, could have just kept the supernatural formula instead of this bad version of Scooby Doo. The two main characters are fantastic. A couple of the other characters are not really realistic. During that era the questionable sexuality was not really in people’s face. Those kinds of people were very private. That being said it doesn’t belong in this show. I could think of a million other ways to give the other characters layer's. Because those kinds of people are in this show,I stopped watching it. I went into it hopeful, but I quickly realized much of the acting felt uninspired and lethargic. Carlos is a notable exception; the actor fully embraced the campiness of the role, making it uniquely their own. If you took Supernatural, distilled it into a procedural format, and handed it off to a community theater troupe, you’d have The Winchesters.
