Tv Season Info
The Windsors is a ludicrous fever dream, a pageant of vulgarity that pushes the boundary of British dottiness into a land of chintzy insanity. The lèse-majesté is completely off the scale.
This OTT spoof was so gloriously on the nose that, at the mention of Meghan Markle, I fear I am inadvertently starting to picture not the real thing but her earnest avatar played by Drysdale.
[The Windsors] is relentlessly ruthless, but also a teeny bit affectionate; it actually makes you rather proud of them. They may be ghastly monsters, but they are our ghastly monsters.
The viewing highlight of the week has to be the royal wedding. Not the actual royal wedding, mind you...
It's a wicked send-up, the most ruthless caricature of the Royal Family since Spitting Image portrayed the Queen Mum as a gin-swilling, chain-smoking Brummie.
Oddly enough, all the actors make the characters seem very likeable while milking them for laughs. Quite an accomplishment.
