Critics Consensus

While some of the humor falls flat, The Windsors boldly lampoons the beloved British monarchy with its talented cast.

OK, so the show's not saying anything new. But it is saying it with a new joy: this is caricature to the max. Go to Full Review

The Windsors was low-budget, crude and rude. But it was all done with such cacophonous relish that resistance was useless. Go to Full Review

Absurd and silly, this farce has a lot of fun with the Royal Family. Go to Full Review
Adam Postans Daily Mirror (UK) 04/22/2019
It definitely fits the brief of lightly pummelling the monarchy and has a genuine claim to the "so bad it's good" tag. C4's [Channel 4] effort? So bad it's bad, I'm afraid. Go to Full Review

But, sadly, all the talent on show are let down by a woefully predictable and utterly laugh-free script. Off with their heads! Go to Full Review

Wrestling with a relentlessly unsophisticated script, the spirited cast try so desperately hard to be shockingly hilarious it's exhausting to watch. In fairness, it has its moments but they're few and far between. Go to Full Review

Whole Lotta V @RT71185838 01/21/2025 Silly and off the wall, but a lot of truth to it and brilliantly played. Bears rewatching and actually makes you laugh. Sad that Camilla actress died. She was so well acted. I really hope they will make a new series in a couple of years. There is so much new material. Wait for Meghan divorce and Harry implosion to be over! Both Harry actors are so delightfully ridiculous. A new, more despicable Meghan might be good. See more Anny J @RT12829898 01/16/2023 Personally, I love this show. It helps if you know a little about the former Saxe-Coburg-Gothas. Now is the time to produce a new season; in the real life soap opera, As the Windsors Turn, things are heating up. Camilla actually is the villain. It practically writes itself. See more Paul C @RT02869875 07/19/2022 A pathetic comedy. Poor acting. A mockery of what should be a documentary rather than a soap series. See more Dave C @RT09838700 04/17/2022 I'm glad I left it this long before watching. Whilst the humour and characterisations are the same episode-to-episode, it doesn't wear thin. The satirical nature of the show, and the sometimes edgy, risqué topics keep it interesting See more 09/03/2021 This show is freaking hilarious. We have seen it three times now. Looking forward to season 4. See more 11/24/2020 This was the ultimate plug for the Royal Family. Great information, but terribly rotten in its scope and subjective commentary on those outside of the family line. See more Read all reviews
