This show doesn't try to be anything it isnt. It has no desire for exaggerated dramatics in scenes or unrealistic personality eccentricities in the characters which is what sort of plagued Mobland and made some of the characters cartoonish and kept the show from becoming something better. Instead TCIO is brings you in to a world that you can believe might exist but doesn't try to pretend you might want. It's dark, gritty, captivating and stressful. The anxiety is palpable at times and the betrayal demands character arcs you desire to see but fear how might play out.
