The setting lends some novelty to a very familiar premise. The idiosyncrasies of Liverpudilian speech, clothing and humour are not simply background details -- they are made integral to the identity of [the] series. Go to Full Review

Of course this show isn’t as good as The Sopranos, so let’s dispense with that comparison. But it’s cracking. I binged all eight episodes in two days, and I’m not a big fan of dramas about drugs and guns. Go to Full Review

Bean, as ever, is a charismatic presence right from the first moment when playing golf, badly. But then so is James Nelson-Joyce as Michael, Ronnie’s second in command, who can speak volumes with one unnerving, piercing stare. Go to Full Review

Many crime family dramas borrow plot points from The Godfather; few do it as overtly as this British show. Go to Full Review

[Sean Bean]’s a terrific actor and any series or film is always the better for having a bit of Bean. This is particularly true of This City is Ours, which, frankly, needs as much Bean as it can get. Whenever he’s not on screen, it droops. Go to Full Review

Sean Bean doesn't need to show his teeth. He exudes such menace in every grizzled glare that any shark would turn tail and swim for its life. Go to Full Review

Scott T @ScottTu 4d A great show. Come for the accents, stay for the drama. The ending is poignant and beautiful. I do hope there is a second series. After this, go and watch Kin. See more lisa M @Lisameogrossi1234 Feb 6 Great show, Kinda reminded me of Mobland. Love the actors great job!! Hopefully we dont have to wait 6mo for season 2 lol. ❤️🙏 See more Kitty T @OhHeyKitty Feb 4 There's a Shakespearean quality to it if you're into this type of story telling. I remembered I liked Valkyrie at the beginning of the first episode. Pace and plots become slower and repetitive and it should've been wrapped up after the 6th episode. It gets to a point oh-dear-everyone-is-just-killing-each-other and the women are still busy putting on makeup. Totemic characters. There are lots of slow dialogues with stares and long pauses and thank lord finally it's the last episode! See more Andrew S @RT12141218 Sep 11 This City is Ours is raw, gritty, and everything a Liverpudlian crime drama should be. Nelson-Joyce’s performance is second to none. He has you on the edge of your seat and gritting your teeth from start to finish! See more A G @RT37403113 Aug 22 It starts slow but it keeps building with surprising turns and twists. The cast is exceptional in its delivery and the entire plot, simple and witty keeps one glued to the screen waiting for the next "surprise". Looking forward to season two. See more Who K @WhoKnew22 Jul 28 It's average Family Gangster drama not on par with MobLand or Gangs of London the script is a bit cliche and predictable . The cast try there best and the series has something about it not sure on a second season See more Read all reviews
