Those Who Can't: Season 1 (2016)

Critic Consensus: Those Who Can't is sporadically funny, but its attempts at light-hearted comedy are undone by derivative writing and a crude, somewhat depressing tone.

Critic Reviews for Those Who Can't Season 1

All Critics (10) | Top Critics (6)

Those Who Can't is not very good, but it's mindless fun if you've got nothing else to do. Those who can't find something else, watch Those Who Can't.

It's a comedic unveiling that all goes pretty much according to plan, making the situational laughs predictable and somewhat sparse.

Not every joke works, but the majority do, and the characters and setting are all running strong from the get go.

Watching Those Who Can't is like being stuck in Saturday detention. It feels like forever.

The second in the number of cable comedies about the life of not the best teachers, originating from a regional improv comedy troupe, is the crude and largely unfunny Those Who Can't.

The performers in Those Who Can't are probably nice people -- they're clearly smart, even if their show's concept is woefully derivative. They will probably go on to do something better.

Feb 10, 2016 | Full Review…

It goes in big on gross-out humor, crass puns and general raunchiness. But it does so with some originality, thanks to the core three performers and a well-deployed supporting cast.

Cayton-Holland, Orvedahl, and Roy seem to be having the time of their lives, and it's almost impossible to watch people having that much fun without getting in the spirit of things.

Cayton-Holland, Roy and Orvedahl have the kind of expert timing and rhythm that can only come from lots of practice and polishing.

Iit's far too familiar to be anything but exhausting. And a little bit depressing.

Audience Reviews for Those Who Can't: Season 1

Ben, Adam, and Andrew knock it out of the park acting like high school teachers that are always in some crazy situation. Not everything is funny, but I think for the most part, the jokes that do work are really funny. As a former 5th grade teacher, Those Who Can't is very relatable. Hats off to all of the writers and actors on the show. TruTV was smart enough to know a good thing when they saw it which is Amazon's loss. @benroy @TruTV

Crude humor, fantastic cast. I love it!

Love this show! All the characters are quirky & funny. It makes me laugh out loud each episode. Looking forward to season 2!

Those Who Can't is an sometimes hilarious and smart SITCOM run down by its moody tone and overly crude humor.
