Set in the fictional town of Lemoncurd, one of those posh Connecticut suburbs where it still looks like the '50s and every stately home sits atop acres of manicured, meticulously hydrated lawn. Following a trio of housewives who are all named Debra and wear stark white. It's the kind of show where a pool boy vacantly tends to a driveway with a pool net, where the neighborhood's mailman is an iguana, and where the police station looks like the waiting room for the kind of doctor who refuses to accept insurance.

Go bigger, Debras, and keep busy with your madness, the world needs it now more than ever. Go to Full Review

The look and feel of the series vaguely recall the ceremonial suburban melodrama of David Lynch's "Blue Velvet," or early Hal Hartley films, while being less romantic and more surreal than either. Go to Full Review

Based on the avant-garde comedy creator-stars Sandy Honig, Mitra Jouhari and Alyssa Stonoha have been performing for years, the show is delightfully absurdist. Go to Full Review

It takes on not just suburbia and the media that depicts it, but targets the socioeconomic conditions that created them with a gleeful, nihilistic absurdity, wrapped around a core of weary indignation. Go to Full Review

Three Busy Debras is effortlessly smart and stupid at the same time. It cuts the weirdest parts of suburban America, like an irrational allegiance to law enforcement or a love of huge SUVs, all while employing silly sight gags. Go to Full Review

05/06/2020 The show is about three women living in the suburbs of LemonCurd. This is one of those surreal/anything goes type of 15-minute Adult Swim comedies. This style has been done before, but I feel that TBD does it well and the uppercrust suburbia element brings something new to the table. The highlights of this show are the three leads: Debra (played by Sandy Honig), the self-absorbed one, Debra (Alyssa Stonoha), the serious one, and Debra (Mitra Jouhari), the lighthearted one. The three actresses, who are also the show's creators and writers, all do an excellent job and already have their characters down pat. As is often the case with these surreal comedies, some gags don't land or are low-hanging fruit. However, I think the jokes work more than they don't. The show can be very creative with its weirdness. There is some stuff you won't see coming. Now, this sort of comedy isn't for everyone, but I say give it a shot if you like this genre or are unfamiliar with it. See more 04/20/2020 Hilarious. Love to watch the episodes these funny ladies put out. Great late night stoner humor. See more 04/03/2020 In Adult Swim's history with live action surrealist comedy, they've been hit or miss. With the added layer of satire, this show shines in particular. See more 03/30/2020 This show is the definition of TRYING TOO HARD. The element that make French and German absurdism successful (when it succeeds) is believability on some level. Someone in the film is giving a straight-ahead serious delivery. In THREE BUSY DEBRAS, everything is a put-on. It's robbed of humor, surprise or absurdity; and left with a measure of conniving stupidity From the dialogue to the direction, to the sets and wardrobe; everything is concocted and ham-fisted. The effect is overdone and seen-before. THREE BUSY DEBRAS comes off like a tepid Saturday Night Live skit that won't end, and during which the players are laughing and winking, but nobody is entertained. See more Read all reviews
