"ThunderCats" follows the adventures of a group of catlike humanoid aliens from the planet Thundera. When the dying planet meets its end, the group, known as the ThunderCats, is forced to flee its homeland. While leaving in their Thunderfleet, the ThunderCats are attacked by the Mutants of Plun-Darr, who attack most of their starships. The damage means they cannot reach their intended destination, so they end up on Third Earth. The ThunderCats become friendly with the natives of Third Earth, who help the cats when the Mutants find out where they are and attack again.

If you've not seen it since childhood, this is very much as you'd expect - the animation is shockingly clunky, but it's the moralistic scripts and wooden delivery that really jar the cringe-nerve. Go to Full Review

Geared towards an age range in the upper elementary grades, ThunderCats captures the imagination and sets up a long-form story that can keep the interest with action while dispensing some good messages and lessons throughout. Go to Full Review

Often the show is just too silly for its own good, not always meshing with the darker sides of the narrative. Go to Full Review

While this cartoon isn't as blatant in its delivery of positive messages as, say, He-Man, its heroes still stand up for what's right and band together to protect the innocent. Go to Full Review

Eric G @Eric_Griffin Jul 9 I don't care what anyone says, for 1985, the animation is astounding. In addition, each episode has a moral for kids to learn. The characters are all unique and well developed. For a kids show, Thundercats gets an A+. Issues include Mumm-Ra's uninteresting motivation and a lack of consistency in his and the Sword of Omen's powers. If the episode needs it, they suddenly become more powerful than before. There's also a lot of forced exposition, but I feel that's totally acceptable in children's television. The humor is also often super corny. I don't mind Snarf as much as other peolple do, and I feel that he does act like many people would in real life (besides saying his own name all the time). But whatever, those are a few of minor downsides. In the end this show has great action, adventure, animation, and themes. Recommended for any child on this planet, Thundercats is an incredible show.
