Deep in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, a recently emigrated police sheriff and his family try their best to survive in a charming mountain town rife with crime and corruption. Sheriff Jim Worth struggles with the ghosts of his past as he attends AA meetings, and his wife, Angela, tries to integrate in the town of Little Big Bear. At the same time, a massive oil company, North Stream Oil, opens a refinery just out of town, bringing with it a swath of migrant workers, rising crime levels, and pollution. When a friend of Jim's dies under mysterious circumstances written off as a suicide, he butts heads with representatives of the oil firm when he tries to uncover the truth of the matter.

Tin Star has all the ingredients of a superior crime series. But someone has spiked the formula and the results, thus far, are more trippy than thrilling. Go to Full Review

It's all faintly bonkers but utterly redeemed, in fact made cloyingly absorbing, by the performances of Roth and Christina Hendricks -- and now young Abigail Lawrie, undeniably one to watch. Go to Full Review

It's all excellent fun... Snowy Alberta is a glorious backdrop to all the bloodletting. Go to Full Review

Crackling with tension and riddled with sudden, unpredictable twists, these six episodes are really good viewing. Go to Full Review

The most striking difference between seasons one and two came in the way we changed our feelings towards the main characters... Now felt like complex human beings worth investing time in. Go to Full Review

stewart w @RT16858997 08/16/2022 Season 1 was bad enough—but at least drinking alcohol gave the protagonist super powers, which is a cool twist. (It used to do that for me, too, if you consider falling down a super power.) But season 2 is terrible. The motivations of the characters are unbelievable, and the emotions and allegiances turn on a dime to suit the ever-changing narrative. The ridiculously overacted lead up to the finalé leads to a boring and disappointing ending. Will I watch season 3? Yes! Tim Roth's embarrassing physical acting is a train wreck I just can't look away from (and the actor who plays his daughter actually rises well above the awful writing and directing). See more 03/12/2022 Season 1 was real good, Season was okay until the last 2 episodes, squeezed out emotionality and overwrought music See more 09/15/2021 Surprisingly decent (and unexpected, giving how poor the first one was) second season of this strange, slightly deranged drama... Helped by fantastic scenery and acting by most of the cast (bar Tim Roth, who looks like he just slouched morosely in from some crappy East End gangster B-movie), it has some memorable and sad scenes... but the main players are so unappealing and uninteresting, it makes the whole thing just seem like a colossal and empty waste of time... Better writers (and no Tim Roth) would perhaps have saved it from the cringe-worthy embarrassment it turns into... Worse is in store however: Season 3 is almost unbelievably dire. Spoiler alert: Ugly, disturbingly and senselessly violent (for no good reason), incoherent, slow and totally illogical in every way, hopefully it's the end for the Tin Star story... See more will t @RT16617000 04/20/2021 Too slow then some killing at that's it. See more 04/16/2021 Season 1 was the best but Season 2 made no sense. Where was the Mexican Mafia in all of this. Supposedly they killed Rosa but at this point, who knows!! It ends with half the poor town dead which if it was the Mexican Mafia okay because they brought that to the town. It took days if not weeks for Liverpool to show up and then they were faceless. Just stupid....the whole thing. I pray Season 3 makes sense. See more 02/05/2021 Doesn't feel like Tin Star. It's just Tim Roth shooting and saying "all right" every 5 seconds which you actually found funny in the first series, as there was a good story surrounding the jokes. Huge step down from series 1.
