Beside betrayal, grief, suffering, fear, destruction, and distress, this story is also about faliure, both at the personal level, but perhaps even more about when neither the closest relations or the system are there to save and protect, but just make it worse. Still, there's light in the tunnel, and the plot's conclusions are revealed in phases, in an intense and nearly virtuose manner. The performances from the two leading stars are brilliant.
