Ms. Watson has a history of delivering startling performances, but she's the more understated partner in the Too Close pas de deux. It's Ms. Gough who insists on our attention and has become my favorite actress of the moment. Go to Full Review

Starred Emily Watson and Denise Gough, so that's two reasons to watch right there. It's like looking out of your window and seeing both a Maserati and a Ferrari parked in your drive. But the material didn't match them. Go to Full Review

Beside betrayal, grief, suffering, fear, destruction, and distress, this story is also about faliure, both at the personal level, but perhaps even more about when neither the closest relations or the system are there to save and protect, but just make it worse. Still, there's light in the tunnel, and the plot's conclusions are revealed in phases, in an intense and nearly virtuose manner. The performances from the two leading stars are brilliant. However, this is not for the fragile. See more Read all reviews
