What to Know

Critics Consensus

A winning showcase for Megan Stalter, Too Much's approach to modern love is coolly detached but creator Lena Dunham's sharp sense of humor remains just right.

It can be eruptive and lacerating along the way, but there’s also room for a rom-com reckoning. It’s anything but generic: only Lena Dunham could have made this. Go to Full Review

A genre-savvy, meta romantic comedy in the tradition of Emily Henry’s novels and the best of Nora Ephron. Go to Full Review

Stalter is a sensational comic performer, and one of the things she’s best able to do is to convey the frenzied insecurity of her character. Go to Full Review

Given the Dunham pedigree, it’s sure to be as polarizing as everything else she’s done in her career and private life. But for those who can meet Too Much with an open mind, there’s a lot here to like. Go to Full Review

It’s a story about being too much -- messing up, getting older, struggling to fit in -- but, paradoxically, it can feel over the top itself: laborious and exhausting. Go to Full Review

In my view, “Too Much” is a fun watch and is literally “too much” in the British sense of the phrase, meaning truly terrific. Go to Full Review

Lelia R @Lelia634 2d I binged watched it and overall enjoyed it, but its biggest flaw is the lack of romantic chemistry between Megan Stalter and Will Sharpe. So much of the dialogue is terrible and tries too hard to be quirky. Most of it says nothing and doesn’t move the story forward. Too many unnecessary subplots and side characters. The only good parts of the show were Jess and Felix’s flashbacks. See more Aileen C @Aile87 Jun 13 Too Much is Netflix Fleabag. I’m not sure how else to describe it, for better or worse. See more Cathy P @RT567893 Jun 9 I watched the first 2 episodes... it is officially unwatchable. See more Tifanee J @Tifaneeee May 11 The main character is insufferable so this was hard to watch. The story is bad and the acting is even worse. This could have been a lot of fun, but this is just not it. I got so bored by episode 2, I just shut it off mid episode. I don’t even care that I didn’t finish the whole thing. I don’t want to waste my time with something that can’t even keep me interested in the first couple of episodes. See more Jonatan C @RT18261411 Apr 25 It feels like the author took everything negative about Gen Zs and make it into a rom com. The plot is flat and derivative, the characters are shallow and too many in an undeveloped way... The Main characters are never sad or happy or develop an emotion for very long. Really dull. See more Margaret J. @RT89944013 Apr 12 It was done so well. The story, the acting, the comedy and heart - I loved it so much. ❤️ See more Read all reviews
