See more letaiser T @RT88401244 07/26/2025 Sadly the Season ends with the shortest Season yet with only 6 episodes (not including summerhouse) and the story behind season 5 isn't that great, there is just to much going on in some scenes and there are some characters that just get thrown away from the story, so the season didn't made a good first impression so far, until we got to the last 3 episodes. Especially the last two episodes were absolutely thrilling, heartbreaking and especially shocking, so with that I think that top boy ended on a good note, overall a very shocking and fair ending for an extremely good show. See more Dream D @RT45019275 09/20/2023 Looking at the season 5 holistically, I feel that the writers who grew up in the decaying patriarchy have tried to make topical amends by making this show TRULY, about empowered, sharp female characters and idiotic, bad decision-making male antiheroes. Shelley, Mandy, Jaq, Lizzie and Lithe - trigger events in this series - Shelley by asking Dushane for investment, Mandy and Jaq by starting a Summerhouse riot, Jaq by stealing the drugs and trying to redeem herself, Lizzie and Lithe by sailing off into the sunset with all the money and somehow not getting caught. You can even add a little unnamed girl who presumably dies by being hit by the police car - her tragic death switches peaceful protests into a bloody riot. These women, representing all generations, are the goddesses of Chaos, sparking various happenings and essentially removing themselves from the drug dealing circus. They're the true winners. The men on the other hand - Sully and Dushane in particular and the Irish gangsters, Si and Kieron to a lesser extent, are reactive, bloodthirsty, sloppy, lacking foresight or just plainly stupid. Starting wars, creating suffering, knowing no empathy, having no forgiveness. It's a parallel to what the men in high positions of power have done to our world. By the end of the series, I genuinely wanted Sully and Dushane to be put out of their misery, i.e. die or get locked up. They used to be somewhat likeable, they used to have depth, they used to have personality. Now, I don't see any redeeming features there. Stef is an interesting one as he and Erin symbolize the young generation. They're smart, they're sharp and they know what kind of future they want and how to achieve it. And It will not be achieved by giving into peer pressure and submitting to the norms laid out by their environment. So overall, I loved it and hated it at the same time.
