Kristen is absolutely nailing it! She’s able to bring her expertise as a chef and empathy as a former contestant in a way that makes the role her own rather than turning it into Padma 2.0. Go to Full Review

Kish was able to connect to the contestants and the challenges from the perspective of someone who has been through it all before, building a compassionate rapport with the chefs while also telegraphing a “no excuses” warning Go to Full Review

We hope that there will be more rule shakeups this season on Top Chef, as the show had started to become a bit rote... But with the change in when immunity is won, and the new perspective Kish gives as host, Season 21 is off to a good start. Go to Full Review

Jason P 08/25/2024 After watching all of season 21, this is my favorite top chef ever. I’ve watched earlier episodes that leaned into drama and cheating and stereotypical reality show drama, and I hate that. Season 21 the contestants seemed to legitimately like each other and help each other out much like the British bake-off. It was refreshing and positive, which I loved! Additionally I liked that the winner in one round had immunity the next episode because if a person can win once, should they really go home for a bad day? I felt like that was a great change. The new host did a great job too! While I’ll miss Padma, change happens and the new host continued without dropping a beat. Mostly though, the positivity of the episode shined through and if all episodes were like this one I’d be watching them all. I love cooking, I hate drama and toxicity, and I love uplifting positivity that helps people thrive. I felt like the cooks were able to thrive because they all lifted each other up instead of tearing down. Her foul language did not represent the verbal critiques with elegance as previous seasons. The “Table Top Art” episode disqualifies her as a credible judge. Mixing the sauces into a goopy mess, then putting the glob onto a biscuit, and taking a bite…was disgusting. Gail Simmons is a better choice!!! See more Misty B 05/15/2024 I have been watching Top Chef since it's inception. Unfortunately, Kristin Kish is not the same caliber of host as Padma was. I feel like this season should be called "Top Chef: Minor League" based on the host and location- Wisconsin? It has really lost its luster. I hope they will reformulate next season with a better host and location or I am out. See more Read all reviews
