Critic Reviews for Trinkets Season 1

All Critics (8) | Top Critics (2)

These kids are confused and pained, and their parents don't have much of a clue about what's happening. Or to quote the song, same as it ever was.

As a story about three high-school girls who become unlikely friends, who are allies in a way that's both supportive and a little destructive, Trinkets is a solid teen show.

Jun 13, 2019 | Full Review…

Too high-minded for momentum yet unable to muster nuance or insight from textured characters, [Trinkets is] shallow without the simple pleasures of trashy TV.

Jul 3, 2019 | Full Review…

Trinkets can best be described as occasionally cute, but mostly muted and sleepy, as though the first draft of a read through were filmed and turned into a series.

Sensitive teen shoplifting drama has sex, crime, friendship.

Could it be a fun binge? Absolutely. The episodes are all less than 30 minutes, so a binge of the whole season would only be about 4-and-a-half hours. But it would end up being a binge that leaves you feeling empty at the end of it.

Likable, well-developed characters and expert performances.

This is well made YA that's worth anyone's time.

Audience Reviews for Trinkets: Season 1

this tv show make my happy, the frienship between them is so beautiful and this is enough

Rewatching season 1 right now and super happy that season 2 is about to drop! Great coming of age drama with believable, relatable lead characters and sharp pacing. Not sure why this got as many stinko reviews as it did, but then we can't all like the same things. May be for the best this one's only going two seasons. I like it a lot, but it's a concept that has a limited character arc life, given the premise and the age of the characters (once they're done with high school it's gonna/gotta be over). Then again I thought The Affair was good for two seasons at most and they dragged that out for 5. Conversely they cancelled Bunheads after 1 season and I thought that should have gone for forever. So what do I know.

Pretty enjoyable, if not a little on the vapid side at times. Trinkets is well-acted by its leading trio, and while it doesn't breach any new ground, viewers will get what they came for.

This show is edgy teen cliche after cliche. If that is your kind of show then you might like it...
  • Nov 01, 2019
Trailer kinda suggested more of it was going to be about camaraderie built around pulling difficult shoplifting "missions", and it might've turned out more exciting that way, but it's OK the way they did it too. Sometimes the dialogues feel like a narrator is reading the lines to you from a book, but I guess it's to be expected with younger actors. Other than that it's well put together and watchable.

This show is so fun to watch and for me personally, the 3 lead characters are very relatable.
