Critic Reviews for Two and a Half Men Season 8

The contrast between the unfunny action and the laborious laugh track was leaving me feeling hollowed out.

In almost every scene, the writers produce great punch lines, which they then top. But they wisely mix the zingers with more subtle, character-driven jokes and physical comedy.

I plan to watch more, just so I can have a solid, nuanced, informed basis for my contempt. Because, oh Lord, did I hate the show.

With Sheen - who truly gives a fine performance, full of sly glances, artful double takes, and more subtle line readings than most of his costars - a subtext of danger laces the show with some suspense.

At a time when there are dozens of worthwhile shows on television, Two And A Half Men delivers nothing we haven't seen before. Even what it does well, other shows do better, without all the tedious baggage.

Eight seasons in, this sitcom is still a big hit...

Sure, it remained crude, vulgar and crass and of course in a show like this no-one really has a meaningful character arc of any description, but I did at least warm to the scenarios and crack the occasional smile at the hi-jinks they got into.

Audience Reviews for Two and a Half Men: Season 8

  • Sep 09, 2019
Charlie Sheen's final season in Two and a Half Men is a worthy sendoff fo the talented actor even if Rose's plots to lure him in are becoming more and more illogical.
  • Jul 24, 2019
One of the best series ever - that is till season 8
  • Apr 26, 2019
(all seasons) You can tell by watching Season 1 why this was a hit: a catchy premise, great cast and snappy dialogue contributing to a very enjoyable laugh-fest characterized by remarkable consistency. Even more remarkably, the above goes on for a whopping 8 seasons. Yet, things take an unfortunate turn for the worse after that, ranging - occasional refreshing glimpses aside - from the average yet watchable to the completely formulaic and below-par, and culminating with the ill-advised "meta" finale. Winning?

Charlie Sheen drops the ball this time around. On top of that the rest of the cast's performances can't carry the dead weight of unfunny jokes and stories.
