Critic Reviews for Ultraman Season 1

All Critics (4) | Top Critics (0)

Apart from the animation style, which definitely needs some getting used to, "Ultraman" is a great title, as it combines shonen-level battle with much depth, which, in essence, make it a title addressed to adults instead of teenagers.

Audience Reviews for Ultraman: Season 1

Episode 8 ruined it for me. It was okay up until then (sure, it had problems, but ignorable). But, bad guy effortlessly evades, provokes, threatens and kills... and then stops a hard charging Ultraman, who finally had enough, by telling him to calm down?! And then the oration, that the blade wielding Ultraman (against character) permits!

I almost never watch anime but being a fan of the original when I was in grade school I was really curious. The animation is great and the show pays appropriate homage to the original while taking it in a new direction. Subtract one star for characters not as developed as I would like although maybe that is the anime style. UM is human sized and that is necessary for the story but still I miss the 50 foot version of him.

An exciting continuation of the original Ultraman show based on the manga. Fight scenes are smooth, packed with so much adrenaline. The design for the ultramen and villains are awesome. Decent storyline.

The new breed of Ultraman is like a Iron-man wearing top of the armor. Im more curious know more about the supporting characters like Bemular, Seiji Hotuko aka Ultraman Edo which btw he really reminds me of Flash Slothmore from Zootopia in terms of sluggishness in talking, hihihihi. The graphics especially the fight scenes looks great. Thanks to the 3DCG technology that gives the series an almost real viewing experience like a live-action show.

Extremely well animated and boasting exciting action scenes and surprisingly decent english voice-acting, Ultraman is a fun watch for any audience, anime fan or not.

Being an anime fan, when I started watching the beginning and saw the animation style, I was appalled. The animation felt choppy (has a low FPS in general) and very unsatisfying. Hence, I stopped watching at around 2/3 through episode 2. Today, my brother asked if he would watch this Netflix series with me, and I warned him it was pretty bad. However, we watched it anyways, only to get hooked up with the show. We binged it in one sitting. Despite the general animation, the fighting scenes were great. This was mostly due to the fact that the people looked like dolls when they were put on oddly-realistic metal suits. But that was fine. After a few episodes in, you begin to disregard the animations and dive into the story. In the future, there will certainly be improvements in the CGI anime industry. At the end of the day, it was a surprising must-watch! Great anime.
