Philip R @PhilipRoss 6 hrs ago Good Premise, Poor Execution –Unchosen had an interesting premise and setting, and I thought the casting and acting were quite good. These characters are living in a cult, and people in cults don't think, behave, or interact like everyone else. I thought the cast did an excellent job portraying that. The biggest problem was that the writers couldn't seem to decide what story they wanted to tell. It starts as an intriguing drama about life inside a cult, with a few members beginning to question their beliefs. When one member has an affair with someone outside the cult, the possibility of leaving becomes a compelling storyline. Then, halfway through, the series suddenly turns into a horror story, making the entire cult setting almost irrelevant. It's essentially two different stories awkwardly combined into one. That's unfortunate, particularly for a cast that clearly put their hearts into their performances. See more Kimberly T @RT33674334 3 days ago Unchosen delivered for me. Julie Gearey’s script had more than enough substance to keep me engaged. It managed to weave some important themes (such as cult of personality, domestic violence, self-hate/sexual repression) into a linear story that was also twisty and intriguing. Lots of human frailty and vice to go around, with no superhero in the lot. Enjoyed all of the performances from the stellar cast. Wonderful to see Asa Butterfield who I adored in Sex Education. This isn't a bad show. It's just not doing anything new or creative here. As for the performances, they are ok. Nothing special. Anyway, it feels like something that would air on a Tuesday night on ITV. It reminded me a bit of when you watch a foreign language drama and try the English dubbing but quickly revert to the original language + subtitles because it the dubbing is so awful.
