What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Uncoupled struggles to integrate the comedic thrills of modern dating with its more serious concerns, the uneasy mixture makes for a surprisingly mature evolution of the Darren Star formula.

I wouldn’t argue that Uncoupled approaches great TV, as it pulls out overfamiliar tropes about dating and a few one-dimensional characters. But it kept me entertained with its very posh New Yorkiness, its fast pace, and its deployment of Tisha Campbell. Go to Full Review

Harris commits completely to his role, delivering a beautifully nuanced performance that far surpasses the material. The cast is full of Broadway stars who don’t get to sing or dance, but it’s progress that gay shows can now be this lame. Go to Full Review

Uncoupled wouldn’t be signature Darren Star escapism – there are definite Sex and the City vibes – if it was really truthful about being suddenly dumped. Go to Full Review

It’s just looney and lighthearted enough to make audiences feel good. However, once you peel back just one layer of the surface, you can’t help but laugh AT it, rather than with it. Go to Full Review

It gets old fast, for me anyway. I have friends who really liked Uncoupled, and I won’t be breaking up with them over this disagreement. Go to Full Review

In the sixth episode of Uncoupled, Neil Patrick Harris finds a groove that’s better fitted for long-term success. It leans into the Campbell/Harden/Harris triangle and actually brings laughs. Go to Full Review

Timothy D 12/19/2023 Thanks to its abundantly charming cast, Uncoupled is a delightful watch. It combines the internal journeys of both aging and queerness with a humorous, good-hearted approach to both. See more Mario C 06/18/2023 Terrible, terrible, terrible. See more Guilherme M 02/26/2023 What's the problem with Netflix... ? Bunch of amateur management who are unable to predict that the public of this special series subject might be lower than a blockbuster? Come on! The narrative remains absolutely open in the last chapter. There is no respect with the public. By the way, a very funny, good characters and actors, well done. See more Ron G 01/18/2023 Be it New York or Paris, no one can make a city more glamorous than Darren Starr. Also, I now realize that Samantha Jones from Sex In The City was really a homosexual man and fabulous too. Good good television and so much better than most. See more Alan A @alanhaber 11/11/2022 Quite mediocre to be honest. I got through it. See more richard l 11/04/2022 I love this show. I cannot believe there is only one season, which ended so abruptly and now seems up in the air. What is with Netflix?? This is a really good series, great writing, great cast.
