andrew K @Andrewjp Aug 8 Drags on becoming frustrating to watch. Mostly unlikeable characters living a very unlikeable environment. Some good performances particularly Rafe Spall. See more Graeme T @RT72326044 Jul 21 Any writer in this day and age who determinedly highlights a mother to be getting completely wasted in the local pub,when the the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome are totally understood and very well documented looses all credibility.So unnecessary. Shame really,the drama could have been so much better without that subplot. The storyline can hold its own but there is a one dimensionality about Kelly Reilly’s performance, she does not stand tall amongst the other cast and shows absolutely zero spread of emotion above her ‘kicking stones’ grief stricken persona. There is an unnecessary relationship featuring Rafe Spall that bears no relevance to the storyline. Overall, it could have be done in four episodes. Constantly corrects the police how to behave, yet tells the parents before police. swears every other word. Just another poor plot of detective series with the lead not being a detective.
