The absence of justice crackles with real-world energy, but the show lacks a dramatic center, cycling through musical-biopic hagiography and procedural-miniseries dullness...In attempting to tell a sprawling story, the producers have overstretched.

Why is it so hard to make a good movie about Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.? ... Unsolved is only interested in Biggie and Tupac as victims, not people-and certainly not as artists.

An excruciatingly simple treatment of a subject that the series' very structure acknowledges as complex, Unsolved is most unsatisfying because of its easy answers.

... Unsolved misses the mark somehow, and many more scenes seem acted, and enacted, and meticulously re-enacted, than they seem convincing or engrossing.

The Tupac/Biggie scenes are disproportionately glutted with the rough dialogue because they don't have what ought to be the entire show's spine. There's basically no Tupac or Biggie music to be heard in the whole series.
