Critics Consensus

She may have solved the murder of her best friend, but everyone's favorite teen sleuth still has plenty of high school drama and danger to go around in Veronica Mars' successful second season.

Critic Reviews for Veronica Mars Season 2

All Critics (12) | Top Critics (5)

Season 2 of "Veronica Mars" doesn't hold together quite as well as Season 1, but this finale still has its brutality, which remains resonate years later. Poor Beaver. Poor everyone else.

May 29, 2018 | Full Review…

like any great TV show, Veronica Mars is so much more than just the sum of its elaborate (sometimes perhaps too elaborate) plot machinations. The really interesting things on Veronica Mars all happen in the margins.

Jan 23, 2014 | Full Review…

I gotta hand it to Veronica Mars season two, it took a bunch of different plot threads and managed to weave them all together in a reasonably satisfying fashion.

The ongoing mystery on Mars is even more enthralling, star Kristin Bell continues to effortlessly impress and even the guest stars are a treat. What's not to love?

Veronica can be enjoyed even if you've given up solving its clever puzzles.

Jan 23, 2014 | Rating: A- | Full Review…

The second outing just couldn't measure up in quality. It was about the whole town and the social injustice inherent to places like Neptune in real-world America, but it just couldn't generate enough adrenaline to last 22-hours.

Jan 10, 2019 | Full Review…

It was still one of the best shows on TV, but Veronica Mars did go through a few growing pains this year.

Jan 23, 2014 | Rating: 9/10 | Full Review…

Mixed in with the same witty and cheeky dialogue and characterizations that made the first season so enjoyable, this show continues to be one of the most entertaining things out there.

May 29, 2018 | Full Review…

Now that Lilly Kane's murder is solved and it's the start of a new school year at Neptune High, things might seem a little too quiet in this second season of Veronica Mars. Not to worry.

A total whirlwind.

Audience Reviews for Veronica Mars: Season 2

  • Mar 23, 2014
Like any good television show, Veronica Mars takes it to a whole new level in Season 2. The series expands and gets richer as the scope opens up to explore multiple characters and their journeys. However, the main arc of the season follows a school bus crash that kills several students, and Veronica suspects that she was the intended target. Season 2 juggles a lot of plots, and it succeeds with most of them. There are also a slew of guest stars this season, including Kevin Smith, Joss Whedon, Lucy Lawless, and Michael Cera. Additionally, Charisma Carpenter, Krysten Ritter, and Steve Guttenberg join the cast as recurring characters. With a star as bright as Veronica Mars there is always the chance that it will burn out, but Season 2 shines as strong and as passionately as the first.

BEST SERIES EVER.Months later I'm still gutted about the ending of season 4. BRING HIM BACK!!! the creator says that we would stop watching if the show was based on romance and wants to focus on the crime solving. DONT THEY KNOW THE MAIN ATTRACTION TO THE SHOW IS VERONICAS ANS LOGANS LOVE STORY?? PLEASE UNDO THIS. we won't even be mad if he just magically walks back into the house. Just please bring him back or a lot of fans aren't going to watch anymore.

It was one of the most well written shows i have ever watched. You could say i'm a marshmallow. I love the LoVe moments but the best are the friendship moments between Veronica and Wallace.
  • May 06, 2015
Despite the multitude of arcs both new and old, Season 2 pulled through surprisingly well.

    record perfecto! una enorme serie!!!

the 2nd season of the show is very middling this time around thankfully though the writers have created a new mystery in the main storyline to keep viewers guessing from beginning to end everything of course ties back to the start of the series unlocking new secrets and sudden turns new supporting characters like Tessa Thompson, Kyle Gallner, and Charisma Carpenter add some spice and sizzle to Veronica solving even more mysteries and considering it's her last year at high school big changes ensue for better or worse cause that's how it is in Neptune this season isn't as firecracking as Season 1 but the smart writing, witty dialogue, and Kristen Bell keep it alive and kickin'
