Nov 09, 2022Seemed like the series was heading toward something important then in the 3rd season the wheels came off! It started chasing unfounded tales of the era. It reminded me so much of the last season of Game of Thrones. Just grab the deck of cards and toss them in the air and whatever lands faceup is the way they let the story fall. Really disappointing as I thought the acting, sets and visuals where all very interesting. Just seemed like just like the "Two Ds" of GoT the powers that be, just lost interest and were on to the next project.

Oct 01, 2022Do not believe the critic's score, watch it! If you are interested in European history or just love a beautifully crafted costume drama full of intrigue and seduction then do yourself a favor and watch it.

Aug 15, 2022Awesome season. Covers intrigue with the Church and runs with the Man in the Iron Mask rumor. #SaveVersailles

Feb 12, 2021While the story is gripping at times, mostly it just drags on and by the end of it the main character is so unlikable you'll start looking for a guillotine.

Jan 26, 2021We loved the whole series and felt so sorry that it had not been renewed. The actors were wonderful, subtle and convincing, and the settings and costumes were dazzling. Great series that must us find out more about the Sun King and his court.

Nov 29, 2020I thoroughly enjoyed all three seasons. The cinematography and wardrobes were exceptional. Taught me a bit of history too! I loved all the actors, especially the brothers, had never come across them in anything else before. I had the opportunity to visit Versaille a long time ago but never went, I regret it. The Hall of Mirrors is incredible by the looks of things. If you enjoy history, with a bit of gore, sex and love, watch this series, you won't regret it.

Apr 23, 2020One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Though, I am utterly heartbroken. The writers didn't do enough for Philipe and the Chevalier! There were so many missed opportunities that would have had viewers in tears if they had done it. They shied away from cute love and it did not do well with this couple. They were the ones with the most chemistry and literally all that kept me through the show. Never been so invested in a couple. Their love was incredible and though their last scene of S3 was great, it was not nearly enough after all they were put through. They deserved more screen time during S3 and more kindness in S2. One of my favorite TV couples EVER. Broke my heart...

Jan 20, 2020I hope it is renewed/picked up for the another season. A beautiful cast and visually stunning show to which few can compare.

Oct 31, 2019Despite the glorious setting and visual feast of the period, Versailles failed to deliver the much awaited character arc for Louis XIV... leaving the viewer disappointed and bored. Louis begins the series as a paranoid, capricious, two dimensional, uncertain monarch who is easily manipulated by women and ends the series, well, pretty much the same. Despite the poor dialogue and lazy use of dream sequences in an attempt to shove the character development forward, the series is watchable thanks to some more intriguing subplots and better developed personalities (such as Phillipe). Overall, the incredible setting carries the series much further than the writing would merit. So watch it, but don't expect to be blown away. The Sun King fails to shine.

Jul 01, 2019Nowhere near as good as the previous two series. Disappointing end to the stories.
