This eight-part drama features an all-star cast including Jenna Coleman as a young Queen Victoria and Tom Hughes as Prince Albert. The monarch's life is chronicled as the story begins with the death of King William IV in 1837, her accession to the throne at the tender age of 18 and her relationships with the influential forces around her. With the advice of the prime minister Lord Melbourne and the support of her husband Prince Albert the young queen flourishes and establishes herself in her newfound role.

Critics Consensus

Historical liberties aside, Victoria continues its reign as one of TVs most handsomely rendered offerings.

In fact, it can be quite fun if you play Spot the Historical Inaccuracy. Go to Full Review

Kate Fleetwood plays Victoria's sister, Feodora, and that affords lighthearted sibling snideness as Feodora bitched about Victoria's short height. But this new series is mostly as you were. Go to Full Review

Victoria, then, is just another excuse for a sumptuous costume drama, soporific viewing for a Sunday night that you don't have to pay much attention to, as you finish off the red wine and ponder the week ahead. Go to Full Review

Jeff B @RT54874440 Feb 12 And finally, we have the last season of Victoria. Already with an outstanding cast, this season seemed the weakest to me. And the ending? Ugh, if a show is based on real life, show that life (Albert) some respect. Overall, it's a typical Masterpiece show, nowhere near as edgy and thrilling as Outlander or even Poldark, but a small look into an 18-year-old girl who became the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death in 1901. See more Chas F @Chasf Dec 4 I am currently watching episode 7, and so far all seven episodes have the very same plot with only slight differences in circumstances. In each episode Victoria makes a decision of some sort which is opposed or not supported by Albert. I feel it shows a lack of imagination in writing, not to have come up with at least a few other story lines. See more Shahania T @RT26304180 12/01/2022 I loved the way Albert and Victoria's relationship has progressed through each season, the ending this time was heart wrenching knowing the historical reality so I really need another season and for the show writers to completely ignore reality. See more 03/15/2022 After the Scotland episode in series two the entire show goes off the rails. See more 02/24/2021 Boring for us I think it's character Albert was really not suitable.
